So I just redownloaded Path of Exile on Steam and I am already missing a file. What do I need to do?

Hey there,
Can you check that your Firewall and Antivirus software is not restricting Path of Exile? Also, can you run a Pack Check and see if this helps. I have included the link below: How to run a Pack Check Feel free to keep us updated on the issue. Edit: Just noticed you downloaded through Steam. There is an option on steam to verify the Game Cache. This can be done by right clicking "Path of Exile" In your steam library, and going to the "Local Files" tab. Tried what you said and nothing. The PackCheck did get the files apparently but it's still giving me the same error. So I tried a couple more times and all files were in sync.

Make sure you run PackCheck.exe as admin by right-clicking on it and selecting "Run as Administrator" If it finds any problems, you'll need to launch PathOfExile.exe as admin the same way so it can properly re-patch the affected content. It is possible that this step wasn't done correctly, and you ended up with a corrupted file.
I recommend trying the PackCheck.exe and PathOfExile.exe again, both as administrator and see if it resolves the issue. If not, you might have a corrupted Content.ggpk file that PackCheck is now not properly detecting issues in. If you have Path of Exile installed to the default location (Program Files) I honestly ALWAYS recommend starting it as Administrator just so it has the proper access in case of patch or other issue. Either that, or move the installation to a non-protected folder so you don't require Administrative permissions to edit files. Program Files is a special folder that ALWAYS requires administrative permissions to edit because of UAC and other things. It's fine for some programs, but not ones that require constant patching/editing. Good luck. |
