Desecrate Defeats Minion Defense Completely.
|
Hello,
I have not seen this issue raised anywhere, so I'm going to make the point of it, before the new patch drops even; Desecrate creates corpses. That is an extremely, incredible power for summoners. I don't think anyone's really thought about the full implications of this yet, or this thread would already exist. I digress; Why do you need Bone/Flesh Offering gems to boost minion survival now? I can just Desecrate, and summon infinitely. Ok, the speed boost is useful, I will give it that. But why do I want them as tanks now that they are infinite? I've already defeated this game solely with Skeletons because they are infinite. You want me to boost the defensive capabilities of minions that are now infinite in number why? What do I care if they block attacks or spells? I don't have Aegis either, it's a waste. So now, I have all minions on infinite standby, once I get this gem. What do I care if they die? That is actually better, with MI, and minion speed, I will turn them all into kamikaze nukes. Zombies without any snap-shotting or the like have decent hp. 33% of my level 19 zombies' 6300 hp is 1890 damage. Multiply that by 10, and I'm looking at 18900 dps, if I can make them all explode as quickly as possible, and re-summon them with desecrate. Add in 14 skeletons, currently at 2275 hp lvl 19, for 682.5 damage per death on top, which adds another 9555 dps (14 skeletons). Tell me why I want these things to live longer? I hope the specters desecrate makes are also melee front-liners, as their explosions deal the highest damage, and would double this output. Is there a cooldown on desecrate? Anyone else had this thought? You can make all your summons with this one gem. There is absolutely zero need to have them survive, and rather better to build them for nuking with MI, and just let them deal whatever damage they can until they nuke. Thoughts? EDIT* None of the values count for minion damage increases. The DPS is solely based on hp values even... add in some 70%+ damage gems, and minion passives... Think about it. It's suppose to have a cooldown, like traps i think. So it wont be infinite, but it will come pretty close imo :').
I am more thinking about detonate dead builds yum yum :D! Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

If you have carefully picked spectres from end game maps and you're not doing a minion instability build(this applies to a lot of summoners from what I've read), you'd want to keep them alive and desecrate feeds those other skills.

" See, this is one area I think the new gem totally defeats; 1. You can use the corpses as specters. I realize a lot of players like to 'hand-pick' their specters, but they too will be infinite, and the largest MI damage. 2. Non-MI builds are only possible for those with the patience to exploit snap-shotting. Otherwise, odds are your specters will go down at some point, unless they are Undying Evangelists. 3. Desecrate does feed the other skills, but why waste time with them? DPS output is higher with endless MI's fed by desecrate rather than trying to boost block chances, and haste aura is already in-game for minion speeds, which also lends to the fact most summoners already spec every aura node they can with aura buffs. The gain on my haste is over 40% AS thus far... I am just having a hard time seeing anything past the potential output from full on MI minion zergs with the endless supply of corpses. Even doing all the summoner tricks in the book, the fastest boss kills etc I've ever had where when multiple high-hp minions bit the dust in a bosses face. |

" what you calculated is not DPS. from the skill preview desecrate seemed to generate a pool of ~5 bodies with 1 sec cast time. So if you want to lose 2 secs for 2 desecrates +~7secs to raise 10 zombies between each and every mob pack, i guess it's doable, but tedious and certainly NOT broken. Your "real" dps if you go that route would be [(0,2+0,85)/(1+cstspeed%)]*1890*(1+fire damage%+minon damage%) with something like 50%fire+ 150%minion damage it would barely be 5700 or so. |

" a good answer to this would be , because it is tedious? sure you have all that theoretical dps , but you know how long it would take for you to summon back 10 zombies + 14 skellys? not to mention that making your minions die easy also puts your specters at risk, and you as well since living minions are the only thing keeping mobs from killing you. sure you can argue that you would just spam raised skelly, that is only a faction of the dps you would be getting of that initial burst from the blob of zombies and skellys dieing and to be frank 25k dps is nothing , my full mf crappilly made melee scion does 30k dps which is hardly noteworthy. i just cant see you using both the zombies and the Skellys as walking bombs, you would have to cast 2 times just to make 2 skelly and one zombie (plus the desecrate) 3 casts on a build that doesnt actively get faster casting. forget 20k dps , you be lucky to get 5k dps from your dudes blowing up. Guys guys :) shit that gets blown up, also leaves a corpse! Just saying :p.
And you can effectively scale MI with chance to ignite/burning + prolif to get ridicules amounts of damage. You can also take EE since minions don't effect EE on mobs. So MI + EE + flamability + prolif/ignite nukes. Sounds funny and very doable imo. And your minions will also smack a bit before they blow up, which is also cool. In addition you clear up your passive tree and gem slots that are otherwise directed at survive ability for minions. Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

you would still need to summon them one at a time, and 24 little burns does not equal a big burn.

I run a lobo witch with her little 9 skeleton/8 zombies/2 spectres (gems are: dmg, speed, life) friends and I just took that nice nod that makes them minions zexplode. After LOLing at them bursting up for a few hrs, I came to the conclusion that the main advantage of them blowing up like a blood over filled balloon was: its a time saver.
I don't have to constantly stop to get full HP minions anymore, and if something happens to get them to blow up all at once:
Spoiler
I'm gonna get the f*** outta there.
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. Last edited by Katastroff#0277 on Jan 29, 2014, 4:41:40 PM
