Weapon types

I started playing PoE this month and I had never played any similar games, so I`m still trying to understand how some thigs work. I read some guides here but didnt see anything about weapons.
What are the practical differences between the different types of weapon? What is the commom use for each type, pros and cons? Is any of them more commonly used, and any barely used?

Thanks, I read that but not quite what I was looking for. Those are just the numbers, I wanted to know the real in-game differences between them, the pros and cons, how and why each one should be used, which type of build use each weapon, things like that.

There aren't any. The raw statistics on the weapons page are the only practical differences other than some skill restrictions.

Axes have the most DPS.

Maces, clubs, hammers have chance to stun in return.

Scepters have increased % ele damage.

Swords have additional accuracy.

Wands have high crit and spell damage.

Daggers have high crit.

The larger class of bows have more phys damage, but low attack speed while the small sized bows have less phys and more speed.

Claws have life leech.

Fist damage heavily depends on the rest of your gear.
