Short "guide" to cheap ass crafting :)

Since I've started domination I've learned how to be poor again and it was fun, for a while. Although my 4L geared spectral throw /heavy strike scion has finished game easily and started low level maps, I felt like one 5L chest might fit in nicely (new physical damage missile gem ) but I could not afford nice 4-5 EX one so I've tried to craft one. Yes I know this looks like I've gone mad but please continue reading :)


It didn't need to be that good, just half-good. This what I've do;

Bought 5L nice white chest Armor/eva for 5 chaos
Bought 150+ alt orbs / 8 chaos
Bought 5 regals and 5 scourings /5 chaos (had scourings from b4)

All in all 18 chaos which is like what, 0,5 EX? Still quite cheap I say.

Plan was simple
Alt+Augument the bastard until I've got some combo of health (+50) and +percent to armor/eva (above 80% or close) then hit it with regal and if it's half way good (like resi roll), WIN!

If not, well I had 5 scourings and 5 regals more.

It was a sound plan.

However it failed :)

Although I've got number of good +% armor rolls getting them combined with health was anything but easy. I think somehow I've had fair chance for that but perhaps I was unlucky. Perhaps.

Anyway I've end up with this;



Which is nothing special but it will seve me for now. Still I'm not sorry for the "loss", crafting is fun :)

I'll do it all again, probably, after a while :)

I appreciate the effort, however it can't really be considered a "guide" if you're not even that happy with the outcome now can it?

Tough to endorse this.. crafting is difficult and in many cases not worth it to begin with since you can purchase what you want for cheaper.

Crafting in this game is pointless and is literally just a currency sink.. unless you happen to get lucky, but I haven't seen many people get lucky on all accounts (alting, then regaling, then jewelling, then chroming, then fusing).. sooner or later, you're gonna end up spending a boatload of orbs and can still wind up with garbage.

TLDR .. poe Crafting sucks

It was a just a story, really, title should be joke attempt, "guide" was put under quotes just for that.

I don't think I have 18 Chaos in Domination, but that is a really nice chest.

yes, the correct way of gambling is rolling an already-socketed/linked white with Alterations and Augmentations, then Regal. you'll still get screwed by the random numbers casino terminator, but you'll have some control at least, compared to things like Fusing or Alching/Chaosing which puts you completely at it's mercy.

it would have been easier to just throw chaos at it or scour + alch

yup. you had to buy the 5l, imagine how much money you would have had to spend crafting that bitch.


average is 90 / 2.5 per chaos = 36 chaos on average just to craft a silly 5l at domi rates.
and then maybe another 30 chaos in jewel crafts

thats if your average. i spent 150 5ling my crap and still nada

I think that you guys missed my point here.

Yes crafting does suck, however;

I spend 18 chaos, was unlucky, and still got (I believe) more then I've payed for.

If I had just a little bit of luck more... i could have;

+90% to armor /eva (600 Armor + 600 Eva ... 1200 allaround)
+70-80 To life
40% fire resistance


Now that is not bad item indeed for mere 18 chaos, don't you agree? Crafting it further grows costs exponentially and it's not worth it but turning good base 5L item into semi good rare is not that hard.

Not that you can make ton of money this way (rng factor and crappy trading system where you get NO inquiries even for decent items in weeks) but for own needs ... might be OK.

Why the hell do people expect to get GG gear that are worth a ton of exalts using the lowest amount of currency possible.

He crafted a very good and nice 5-link for exactly his purposes that made it very usable for a reasonable amount of currency.

You either craft a 5-6 link and get good affix/suffix on it, or take a GG Armour and get 5-6 link on it.

If you are going to take a completely plain Armour, 5-6 link and then craft affix/suffix.

OFC it's going to be expensive and inefficient.

If you took your current Armour and then exalt it a few times, you may get another resist and double the Armour and have a chest worth a ton.
