Opinion: Namelock needs to be disabled for Cyclone RIGHT THIS MOMENT.

I can't imagine any situations in which namelocking with Cyclone would be superior to just finding a monster's true location and navigating manually.

Give Cyclone the same targeting functionality as Move Only and suddenly 99% of the desync problem with Cyclone will be fixed.

Please correct me if I've failed to come up with a situation where namelocking with Cyclone would be superior to manual navigation.

I agree.

If they are going to keep it this way they need a minimum distance because I'm sick of holding on one mob to level off and be standing inside of them.

Target Lock with Movement Skill

Currently, that's "checked" with no way to "uncheck" it. But just imagine. Uncheck that, and all of a sudden you can have Lightning Warp, Whirling Blades, Leap Slam, and yes, Cyclone, 100% desync free assuming no stuns/other interrupts.

Sure, you wouldn't be able to chase an enemy by holding down a button with your mouse in place. But most enemies just run in straight lines anyway, so it's not very difficult at all to chase. And you can just toggle it back on if it's not working very well.

A hotkey to turn it on/off like items-on-ground-always-highlighted and corpse targeting would be nice.

Always been my biggest annoyance with cyclone, and the one complaint that is brought up alot that I agree with
Okay, I lied. Maybe not 100% desync-free. But 90%. Close enough.

Should I change the thread title to be more sensationalized, to get more views? HOW TO FIX DESYNC RIGHT NOW maybe?

I just hopped in game and tested. With 99% increased movement speed, Cycloning back and forth is STILL a piece of cake.

There is pretty much zero benefit in Cyclone being namelockable right now.

The game really needs a checkbox to turn off namelock on movement skills.

I think most people who've read GGG's sync manifesto (admittedly not available now that the game is released) or who know how synchronization in online games works should be fairly familiar with what I mean by the term (am I misusing it, by the way?)

When you hover your cursor over an enemy, and then hold down a skill button (such as right click), you will continually target that enemy, regardless of what position that enemy occupies. So if a monster appearing in front of you is desynced behind you and you use a melee skill, right clicking with that monster's name displayed at the top of the screen (thus, "namelock"), your character will move forward on your screen, but backwards on the server (and the server is always the final authority). Thus, there is player position desync.

Here's how I avoid that problem with Cyclone: Instead of binding it to a mouse button, I bind Cyclone to my left index finger key. I then hold down my left finger to use Cyclone, without highlighting any target with the mouse. Once Cyclone starts spinning, I can use the mouse to steer it without locking on to any target.
