Best Class to Start with

Coming from D3, kinda bored of it. PoE seems to be a very promising and interesting game of its genre.

So to the closed beta testers, which class would you suggest to a new PoE player?

Can't wait for the open beta on Jan 23rd!

There's a great diversity in each and every class.
You can build a Marauder as a Wand wielding caster, a Ranger as a dual wielder, A Duelist as a Bow character etc.

yea i heard that too, it's awesome, but don't the main attributes contribute to damage? Is it gonna kinda counter-productive to, let's say, make a marauder a bow wielder or make a ranger a melee?

tried to look for how attributes work, but didnt find any info on the website.

Its all about where in the passive tree you start

As reitaaaxD said, every class is diverse because of the skill tree and gem system. For open beta and new players it all comes down to your play style. I would take a look at the Quest Rewards and then try to decide on a build type based on those gems since there will not be many available for trade at the start. You can move around the skill tree pretty easily from any starting character, but there are definitely ones that each have their own advantage, especially early on.

It also depends on if you are deciding to play Hardcore or not. For hardcore I would advise Marauder for the massive HP availability early on. Check out Nulls HC Marauder guide

I have tried several builds over the past 6 months. So far my favorite one is a witch pure summoner build. My personal preference.

Marauder might be the most straight forward for someone new to PoE. Get some weapon/health passives and go hit stuff with your favorite skill.

Bow elemental dmg shadow is my favorite so far
