does it worth farming orb of alteration?

I'm a Level 52 Ranger and I'm actually at Act 1 Merciless.
At the moment i am broke and i need to buy some stuffs.
Yesterday i was looking for advice to get some wealth and someone told me that farming Orb of Alteration was the best for me.

1C :20-25 alter

But.. is orb of alteration even high-demand item?
Almost everyone use rare items, so why would someone want orb of alteration?

it doesnt really matter if its a high demand orb .


theres rates as to how many alt.orbs 1 chaos is like you said but same goes for
evry other orb


to make it clear using you're example .


if i buy a item from you that cost's 2chaos...

i could pay ..2 chaos OR 40-50 alter


and those alternation orbs can be changed at the female vendor to higher currencies in act 3 normal/cruel/merc

Get to like 65-70 and farm Merveil in merciless for alt's. She isn't hard to kill and she drop's alot of loot. Plus running to her you might get more loot.
Just set up your portal before Anger and when your done killing her just refresh your portal and run a new instance.

Alteration orbs are quite versatile, as they can be used/converted directly in many ways without trading to players.

2 Alterations will buy you a jeweler's orb from vendor (act3)
4 Jewelers orbs will buy you an orb of fusing

Also, alteration orbs are much used directly for crafting, rolling maps and high end crafting (before making the item rare via regals and exalted orbs)

You should for sure not give MORE than 20 alterations if you want to trade for chaos orbs, something like 16-18 should be possible. Or you could trade them in for fusings, and try trade those for chaos 2:1.

Farming Merveil is a good advice, but you do not have to level up to Merciless, you can farm her at cruel, or even at normal difficulty. You wont get many orb drobs, but that doesnt matter, vendoring rares is the main income anyway. Do try to get some IIR/IIQ on your gear though, and if you farm at a lower difficulty, gimping your char will not matter at all, since the mobs die in seconds anyway.

The player making the guide farms it for uniques, but I recommend you pick up rares and vendor those (one full inventory, ofc pick the smallest items first) after identifying them, just one full inventory and then make a new instance using your old portal.
