Suggestion: Move the mini-map out of the center of the screen.

Diablo 2 put it over the center because it ran in 640x480 (800x600 in LOD) and there just wasn't space anywhere else. Modern wide screens have plenty of space, and then the map can be made fully opaque for easy reading, and it won't interfere with gameplay in any way.

Or at least have an option to place it in another corner of the screen, probably either upper right or lower left are most commonly used. If it's configurable I think you'll find that 95% of players won't put it in the center.

I liked the center minimap. It made it easy to see not only where you were, but where you explored in direct relation to your current position. And if you needed to scroll, it also allowed that.

Opaque maps I find hard to read, and I have no problems with the D2 map or system, so sure, if it is an additional option, no if it's a replacement idea.
Yeah, having it be a option where we can set it to the corner, or have it in the center would be a good idea. Long time Diablo fans like myself could or would much prefer a center map for reasons listed above. But it'd be cool to have a different point of view or maybe do something different like a mini map.

I'm sure most players would prefer the map to not obstruct your view too much and have it as a separate function altogtether. Don't get me wrong, it's a very clever idea but for some players, it could become distracting so I agree with the 'lower left' or 'upper right' hand corner idea.
Salt. All I taste is salt. It stings my mouth and burns my eyes.
I agree! I like the map and use it a lot most of the time, but when I turn of the map it is such a clean screen that makes me realize all the detail :p but then I have to turn the map back on x(

EDIT: At least having an option of doing it both ways would be awesome )
