Does Fork + Chain stack? Can you link both on an AoE skill?
It would be expensive, but if it works as I think it can it could drop a swarm mobs in an instant even on harder difficulties
Does it work out this way or do they alternate triggers instead of combining Or possibly not stack at all |

A projectile can either fork or chain, but not both.

Ok good to know. . . follow up question then: Is x Multiple Projectile + Chain or xMP + Fork possible then? |

" Yes. It will be VERY mana intensive with xMP + Chain (not so much with Fork) but it is a valid combo. For Ranger build tips, tactics, and critiques, visit this thread: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/69224 Last edited by Islidox#7754 on Jan 15, 2013, 12:40:54 PM

Fork and Chain actually "kinda" stack. While they won't proc at the same time, the initial projectile will Fork first, then each of the 2 forked projectiles can chain. Granted if they fork in a stupid direction, it's a huge waste. Also remember both chain and fork reduce the total damage of your projectiles by quite a large amount, so you'll be doing noticeably less damage. Add to that an extreme mana cost and it's rarely useful. It's the same case with LMP/GMP+Chain.
It's arguable in some points but generally chain alone will get the job done, or LMP+Fork, or GMP alone. Stacking them isn't necessarily giving you better results besides the perfect situations. Last edited by PyrosEien#5602 on Jan 15, 2013, 4:18:12 PM

Sounds like Pierce is the way to go then as it has a very low mana cost increase and does not lower damage Also with the passive in the skill tree it can get up to the 90% range |

" Pierce isn't reliable and requires passives to be ALMOST reliable, plus it well, pierces. Chain will automatically target a monster in range which means you don't rely on positionning requirements, if there's a mob in range it'll chain to it, pierces only goes through the mobs. Each of them have their pros and cons, either mana cost, damage reduction or amount of targets hit/ease of hitting those targets, but I'm not a big fan of pierce due to the unreliability and the need to use external sources to make it more reliable(passives, uniques or curse). |
