Want to DW, which class is best?

Hello all,

I just stumbled upon PoE and it seems really cool. I've always enjoyed dual-wielding and was wondering what you Beta players think is the best DW class?

At first I thought the Dualist but according to some posts here that class isn't as good as the Ranger and the Marauder (why is that by the way?). What do you think?

Hey, if there is no "best" class for DW then no one is happier than me. The more viable options the better. I just want to make sure I'm not severely gimping myself by playing DW with a class that handles it poorly.

If anyone thinks differently please comment.

I've been told several times that the Duelist starts closer to what a DW char would want to get hence hes slightly better. Just keep in mind classes only mean different starting point and nothing else.

With my humble knowledge the big difference between dual wield and single wield is the fact that a dual wielder has no shield and consequently less defense. You have to make up for this loss through more HP or armor/evasion/ES skills in the skill tree. This isn't as simple for every class, but most classes have sufficient nodes available in the early game. I believe that only the witch has some problems in that area, but you weren't looking in that direction anyway.

The word Duel is completely independent of the word Dual. Dual refers to two things at once, and duel implies a formal fight between two people.

On topic, Dex classes have the best DW nodes. DW comes with an inherent 15% block chance which can be improved chiefly in the ranger and duelist areas to quite a formidable level. These are very useful.

Dual-Wielders automatically gain 15% increased attack speed, and many nodes increase attack speed while dual wielding.
