"A Dirty Job" Quest - Please no more hide and seek!
For me, the quest "A Dirty Job" is very annoying. This is the quest where you need to clear the Fetid Pool of the necromancer and minions. Every single time, I end up running around the map multiple times to find the last monster in the area.
My Idea Once the necromancer is killed, have a zone-wide aggro or teleport the remaining monsters to your location. This would eliminate the annoying hide and seek game at the end of the quest. This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

sry but im totally against that
the point of "fetid pool" is that this quest is a reference to the "Den of Evil" which is the first quest in diablo2. it is a dungeon in that u need to kill all monsters and if u miss one u need to seek it to finish. if that would be changed it would be diffrent from "Den of Evil" and that would conflict with the reference part. also note that "Fetid Pool" is a sidequest, u only do it when u need the 2 respec points quest reward best tactic to finish "Fetid Pool" fast is to run in zig zag lines between the wall and the lake while approaching around the lake, that way u minimize the chance to miss a mob. with this movement i almost everytime clear Fetid in one run without any seeking glhf Last edited by Nackt#7605 on Jan 1, 2013, 9:44:00 AM

I think just a little extra light would do wonders. I've passed the same zombie 2-3 times because there wasn't enough light.
Either equipment to allow more light, an offhand to allow more light, or just a passive light increase to the Fetid Pool once you kill the Necromancer. |

I would find that a lot of fun. If you went straight for the necro as people do in hardcore races, you'd get everything dumped on top of you all at once. It would be a great risk reward mechanic in races and would remove that annoying hide and seek stuff that happens so often, even when I transect the zone at tightly spaced intervals.

" actually, I like the idea of the light increase after the death of the necromancer. It kinda feels like a minimum requirement for that quest, because it -makes it easier to find mobs, thus less annoying -shows that the area is somewhat cleansed by the evil influence and -is another reference to the den of evil- the cave lit up after defeating all the monsters. If GGG doesn't want to change much about this quest, because they want to keep the den of evil-feeling, adding the increase of light would somewhat improve the whole quest. |

Tried suggesting this once, wish you luck.A really irritating quest-you don't make gameplay worse for a reference. To something that made another game worse.

I've got my own system to find everything, and it has never failed me. Make a wide circle around the zone, so you can see but not hug the outside wall.
Then make an inner circle so you can see but not hug the inner lake. Very rarely there will be a section where this doesn't cover the entire map, but using sound to find the missing ones is also very effective. You can hear the monster roughly 1 screen away. Edit: I really like the idea of brightening up the map once you kill the necro. Only concern would be players would think the quest was complete when the sun comes out. In Wraeclast, if someone tries to kill you... you just kill them right back. Last edited by Trapperkeeper#6979 on Jan 2, 2013, 2:07:49 PM

That quest already so much resembles the den of evil from diablo 2, making a shining light would make it seem even more so, its really not that hard and the quest is optional. Just take your time and always check around the middle and you will most likely get everything.

Hi
That quest is really easy if you use a totem or a minion and they will ''warn'' you when a missing monster is near, otherwise zigzag method works great. It would be neat to at least lift the foggy mist once all monsters are dead as if some curse in the area has been lifted. Cheers Conan: Crush your enemies. See them driven before you. Hear the lamentations of their women.
Never dance with the Devil because a dance with the Devil could last you forever... -I thought what I'd do was,I'd Pretend I was one of those deaf mutes- Nullus Anxietas:) |

How about a ping or an arrow on the mini map pointing in the general direction of the last 5 or so remaining zombies? I would much prefer this than lighting up the map.... the atmosphere is what makes this game so amazing.
