Cast when damage taken + Cold Snap

I was trying some new combo's now we had a little nerf in the cast when damage taken and 1 of them was to combine it with enduring cry and cold snap and elemental proliferation.
but i never ever freeze a target. Is there some hidden stuff on this gem that it needs to do a certain amount of damage if you compare it to the mobs life before you can freeze? Cause with the 70% reduced damage you will hit very low.

If this aint working im gonna try cast when damage taken + enduring cry + molten shell + life gain on hit. Idea is to get many molten shell explosions so you get the life from the mobs you hit.

You need to read the gems. You don't get life on hit from spells, only attacks. Life leech does work with spells, but the damage is too low to give much.

And yes, you need to do a percentage of the enemies health in order to freeze, shock, chill, or stun. Check the mechanics thread for the details.

Actually you need both - you have to crit and do enough damage with it to trigger a freeze

You don't NEED to crit to freeze. Cold Snap comes with innate freeze chance, a stat which applies to non-crit cold damage.

Bottom line is he just needs to read the wiki pages instead of listening to posters bickering about technicalities and silly semantics.

EDIT: Also, yes, Cold Snap + CwDT is a not a very good combo at all. I would almost go so far as to call it terrible. Cold Snap + Cast on Critical Strike would work much better.

Uuups, sorry, forgot about the cold snap freeze chance, yeah in that case a crit isn't mandatory...
