2H Melee Witch.
|
Hello; Well I decided to scrap my project of my first Witch (Some sort of fire build), And i've decided to Re Roll with a whole new thought of a Melee 2H Witch.
At the start I want to mainly work on my Energy Shield and Mana Regen; Because when it comes to later levels im going to need that little extra Energy Shield to stand there and tank at the same time as not running out of Mana. I was thinking on using 3 Main support gems which would be 'Cold to Fire' 'Melee Damage on Full Life' and 'Elemental Weapon Damage' Along with a good enough Elemental 2H (Preferably a Sword), I was going to eventually pick up the 'Elemental Equilibrim' Node; Which will reduce the Resistances for Enemies when I attack them... This is my first serious Witch build; It'd be great if anyone could give me some advice on where I should start maybe? Thankyou, Danny (Motting). #1 Map Avoider EU. Played since Closed Beta.

So I spent some time thinking about this and came up with 2 possible builds. One with CI and one without. The problem I see with CI is that you will be stunned very easily. I'm not sure how big of a problem that would actually end up being though. I don't know how I really feel about the builds but they have 121% increased weapon elemental damage. I think you would need a high physical damage weapon and the life steal from blood rage for the CI build to really work well. Could be wrong though. Anyway, here they are.
With CI: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMBB2MMfRB_ES0RUBZAJ-0pTyo4LL8yiTLROtg74TwtQ2NFR0bXRwZN2FcrV-JY9VnzXcZfal-qZp5s9m0ZcU1yqXPhd-V6uHyDfNl_xoKbguSFfYt6i4yMdo6-j_qQEZLBms-dxKKjpyusqq6TtQS3Mbc-uJO71sAawcXB88NtxPbGnsauzfrb59-w4XPi9-Qi5oHsGOw47SD3iA== Without CI: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMBAnEEswdjDH0QfxEtEVAUTRo4J-0pTzKJMtE62DvhPC1DY0VHRtdN2FcrV-JY9VnzXcZfqmaeaHRs9m0ZcU1yqXPhd-V6uHyDfNmCm4Lkiq-LeouMjHaOvpARkFWSwZSgms-dxKIApyunhKlorKq1BLcxtz64k7vWwBrB88NtxPbGnsauzfrYTdpi37Dhc-L35CLmgew47SD3iA== I'm sure these could be improved somehow. I took Resolute Technique because there aren't many extra points to use on accuracy and this way you don't have to worry about getting enough on gear. Also I think you will need some armor with the CI build to help with getting stunned. I've never actually done a melee CI build so I could be wrong about all this but with the right gear I think it could work. I don't know. Let me know what you think. Edit: for the CI build I should have headed to the middle from the Buff nodes instead of from RT I think. Last edited by Stangery#3974 on Dec 20, 2012, 7:42:57 AM

You could consider getting Unwavering Stance to solve the potential stun issue, it's 10 points from your CI build.
Taking some points out of the middle area and some elemental damage near Templar area you can reach it by lvl 66. Then you can work on getting back the elemental damage, maybe get the big 15% attack speed near Unwavering. Or get a Eye of Chayula amulet. One question though, you don't specialize in any particular weapon? I was doing a similar build, I think staff may be the way to go for it. In either case this type of build will be painful to play in the beginning. IGN : Jovial Last edited by yhateful#2635 on Dec 20, 2012, 8:47:30 AM

This isn't necessarily exactly what I would do but Motting didn't specify any particular weapon so I left it pretty ambiguous. You could definitely move stuff around for a weapon specific build. I meant it as a kind of generic idea to be improved upon.
Unwavering stance would help if being stunned is a big problem I'm just not sure if it would be necessary or not since I've never actually done anything like this so i didn't include it. Heading over to US does open up some nice possibilities for future points though. It would be a pain to try to scrape the stats together to actually use a 2-hander early on. I'm actually starting to question my whole build now. I think I'd like a lot more physical damage. Hmm. Anyway, I could ramble on all day. Mind showing me the build you were working on? |

Thanks to everyone who replied to this Build; A lot of the feedback was useful, This feedback has made me Re-Think this build over a little..
I think a Shadow (My Home Class) would be a better 'Start' for this type of build for me. But it's always nice to gain knowledge of the classes you don't play right? Thanks. Danny. #1 Map Avoider EU. Played since Closed Beta.

That's right, you need a lot of points to get the 2h melee witch rolling.
However, i really like your idea. This is my build (after spending 77 points):

I've tried this with my own build the last 2 days on hardcore, I've lost both characters now at lvl 16 and 11. It is hard at the beginning
This is sort of the build I was using http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMBB2MI9A48ES0R2xQgFHEYkRpVGtkbyCj6MYgzdjWGNZI26DpSOrM64UGHQzFKfU4qTshQR1b6VytYr1uvXhNhIWKsZKNnoGh0bPZzU3gNeQN6uHyDgseC5ITvhymHdojxiq-OvpARkjiSwZSgnaqhbaZXps-nMKlurpO18rZBuJO5zcBUzfrQR9N-1p3YTdpi3Q3fsN-_5oHr7u4O9778xQ== (80 points) Love theorycrafting builds
