Whats the advantage of Fork over Chain

Fork splits into 2
Chain chains 3 times and targets enemys

So logically since chain is more accurate and hits more often why do people use fork?
There are a number of reasons one might choose different ones for different skills.

Fork is less expensive, as well as having a lesser damage penalty.

For a skill like spark, the projectiles are erratic anyway so the aiming on chain is most likely not going to be a help.

For others, Fork might be ok as you plan to use it on tightly bunched groups of enemies.

Fork makes both of its projectiles at once, dealing the damage quicker than jumping from one to the other, also if chain does miss at any point, the chain stops.

That's a few things to think on anyway.
To add to what Zephyroth wrote, a projectile always forks when it hits an enemy, so it never runs out of "bounces." Thus, you have the potential of hitting many more enemies with one use of a skill linked to Fork.
same name in-game
A big reason is mana cost multiplier. Chain has a massive 200% cost multiplier compared with 125% for fork. Chain also has a larger damage reduction penalty.

Chain will be useless with skills like spark which is not a targeted skill, but it will be better with most other targeted projectile skills.

You can use Fork 19 levels earlier than Chain.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
how much do they normally cost?>
