Can't get past "Contacting Server..." Can't Log-in!
|
Hello Grinding Gear,
I play tested your game when it were in the beta, and now I see that the game has been released while I'm in college, and I want to try it out again! However, even after 'linking' this game to Steam, I am stuck in a "Contacting Server..." "Connecting to login server..." "An unexpected disconnection occurred." loop. I seem to be unable to even enter the game, and I don't know why. I've done this on a forum post: 1. Login with your non-Steam POE client. If you uninstalled that, you can redownload it and copy your Content.ggpk file from Steam over to that directory. 2. Login. 3. Enter your unlock code. 4. Login again. 5. Exit. 6. Launch from Steam. With the exception of this 'unlock code' thing. Any thoughts support has to assist me would be appreciated. Thank you! |

Did you encounter an Unlock Code when you attempted to log in using the NON-Steam client?

No, only reason I know about Unlock Codes are because people talk about them. No prompts for anything as yet, Steam or Non-Steam clients.

" Then your problem is not the same as the others from the quote you posted. Some people were having issues connecting through Steam if their account was already locked and required an Unlock code. Those instructions are how to "Clear" the unlock code so that Steam is able to log in correctly. If you still cannot connect then my guess would be firewall or port issue. Have you attempted to connect via a VPN and see if it works then (that bypasses most firewall/port issues). If it works on a VPN and not otherwise, then you for sure have something going on in your network or PC that is blocking the connection. Firewall, router configuration, antivirus, etc. |

I believe that the firewalls on my PC are fine - I have many games in the "Always Allow" category just in case something can happen. I DO use a campus ISP, however. Cisco NAC Agent is what I had to install to get the internet to work, signing in using my student ID and the like. Would this affect anything?
What is a VPN? Last edited by Malryk#0695 on Nov 8, 2013, 4:52:04 PM

Campus networks are notoriously locked down for security. It could very well be the cause of your problem.
Instructions on the VPN can be found linked in the Consolidated Technical sticky post. |

Roger that. Thank you, Drakier. I hope it works!

The VPN is working, Europe servers. Bit laggy, but it's working! What does this mean? Is there something wrong with my college' net?

" It means the firewall on campus is probably blocking you |
