Fireball No Damage Bug
When I am close to en enemy and use fireball, it sometimes does no damage. It will continue to do no damage until I move away from the enemy. I have tried this with just the fireball and with it linked. Unsure how long it has been going on. It happens on any enemy in any act.

How come this bug report has no asnwers? Is it a somewhat known bug? It's not in the known issues list.
I have a lev 82 Fireball-Witch and it has been happening to me constantly since early levels. I deal absolutely zero damage to very close untargeted mobs, like when someone walks in my line of fire while I'm shooting at distant targets. Then if I move or manually target it, it vaporates like it's supposed to. It's not even random, it almost looks like an unlisted skill feature. Maybe it's normal to deal no dmg to close untargeted mobs? Can anyone give a feedback about this? |

Probably just desync. The monster isn't exactly where you think it is.

" It has no answers because there was a bigger thread with the same issue with multiple posters that had an answer, and that answer was that they tested it and it works fine, if you want to contribute make a bug report with your spec, gear and a video showing that it does no damage and under what circumstances it happens. Posting my gear would be useless since, as I said, it's been happening to me since early levels, and of course I changed my gear many times since then.
My spec? If you mean my pc specs it's an i7 960, 12 gb of ddr3 1600mhz ram, vga is nvidia gtx 660TI and my connection is 50 mbit down / 10 up. That's way more than enough to run POE. Making a video about circumstances? It happens always, as simple as that. Everytime I'm shooting distant targets or simply wiping away mobs that are outside of the screen field of view, if a mob walks very close to me in the line of fire it takes NO dmg until I move a few steps or manually target it. In my 357 hours of gameplay it's been happening constantly. Does this need a video? I could accept the desync answer mark1030 gave, but that would mean I've been constantly desyncing since when I started playing. Besides, I've never felt like experiencing desync or lag, never died by desync, never took a single hit or projectile out of nowhere. Apparently everything is always exactly where it's supposed to be...except for those dmg immune mobs... sounds weird to me. |

no, your spec as in what passives, and your gear to see if anything on them may alter the behavior, and a video as i have said proving that it happens because they HAVE tested it and can't reproduce it...as in it works as intended as far as they can see.

Sometimes when its just one mob its not so much you are desyncing as just that one guy is. Next time it happens try typing /oos and see if he teleports away. If he does, then it is indeed just lag.

But if it's just lag and the mob isn't really there, how can it stop my projectiles? It's like shooting a column for a few seconds until I move or specifically target it.

Because the Fireball is drawn client-side, and on the client it does collide. Server-side, it will still continue on its path until it runs into something.
