Estimated game length of POE once released

Guys

Me again. I installed the BETA and noticed that the whole installation is like 4.6GB only. Does this mean that the final release of POE will be a short game (duration) at all?

game content and changes are added constantly and the game patches itself on every start to the new version.
so your game grows as soon as new content is added.

But do you think the overall game will be short once released eventually?

With the current passive tree, gem combining possibilities and such, the game already have a HUGE life duration.
It s all a matter of replayability i think. If you like the game itself, you can play it during years, and it will go larger every patches. Some beta members already have several hundreds of hours on they still play it :)

For me, i don t even think there is a limit with the possibilities regarding builds so yeah, game will have a gigantic lenght, it already has. Even with only 3 acts + end game maps, there s a lot of things to do if you want to improve your character.

Depends on what you mean by short ?

The first two acts that are active now are not very long (a couple of hours of playtime each), and I don't think the third one will be much longer (probably the same length).

But the char personalization, skill system, crafting, maps, diffculty level will let you play for a long long long time (this without the added content planned down the road).

If you want only to play the story, and stop as soon as you have finished the main quest, it will probably not be very long, but it's not that short either.

Referring to "game length" for a game like this is very misleading. In the last "One Week" HC ladder race that I participated I created a character and levelled it to 79 - I was literally playing 20+ hours per day. Add to that there are six character types with a vast possibility of builds that a person can try. That does not even include the amount of time you could spend building and playing PVP characters. This is certainly not a game that you could put a time frame to.

hmm well its being released on 1/23/13 so im guessing it will last until 2030?

I believe GGGGuys have said they estimate 10 years, at least ;)

Size on disc rarely reflects how long a game will be,it might reflect variety more but even then not always.

Bigger size on disk merelly means more images, video or music.
