Diamond Flasks

I was wondering if everyone thinks that diamond flasks are going to be changed for final release.
I've been planning a firestorm/ice spear totem/ci witch build that has been focusing on critical multiplier.
Should i change build to hybrid crit chance and crit multi or no?
If so what should I diversify into?

I myself would go part crit chance, part crit multiply. The main reason being is that crit flasks are punishing to use. Uses all 80 charges in one drink. So to use them in a way you have a constant supply of crit, you would need all crit flasks.

If you have base crit chance in your build, and a few diamond flasks, you can have a more consistent supply of damage.

I presume you are playing default, so if you wanna give pure diamond flasks a go, then knock yourself out.

Diamond flasks are definitely op, and going pure multi would work fine especially in a party. In a 6-person party you'd probably only need 2 flasks and you could 1/2 shot every pack.

I've been arguing for their removal since they were introduced in 0.9.6.
Hasn't done any good as far as I can tell. It's like a giant game balance blind spot.
I've felt that especially for my build in parties that diamond flask is pretty riduclous.
Having 100% crit lets my spell totem + chains + ele. proliferation + ice spear have almost perma slow/freeze for the duration of the flask.
Right now it has let me breeze through most of ruthless currently.
If they trash the flasks then my build is still viable as a hybrid crit chance/multi.
However if they keep the flasks, it means my build is subpar and i need to reroute all crit chance into crit multi. This all hinges on how GGG feels about the flask.
Especially by having swapping charges of diamond using a TP scroll for hard fights to have easy refill.
I just hate how some builds can be completely trashed depending on the direction GGG goes with the nerfs and that we can't have a full respec if it happens.

and/or...

put some focus on getting additional, and faster flask charges.
Diamond and granite flasks both seem rather unreasonable. It's not that there shouldnt be flasks that give offensive or defensive benefits aside from plain life/mana recovery, it's that they shouldnt turn a fluffy kitty into a monstrous tiger.

It feels like the effects should still be based on the characters stats, so granite flasks could increase armor by several hundred percent, and diamond flasks could double chance to crit or something like that.

As it stands it's not really fair that a character with no investment in armor or crit chance can benefit fully from both types of flasks.

Granite I'm a little more okay with because it doesn't affect charge generation. At best you... don't die. Unless of course it's elemental or chaos damage that's killing you, in which case it doesn't help at all. Maybe the duration could come down a bit, but it's not even in the same league of crazy broken shit as Diamond Flasks.

I personally don't think any flasks should be offensive in nature. It's needless complexity, and diamond flask is the only one of its kind (unless you count 'of adrenaline' to be offensive).

If it's gotta stay, there are a million good ways to fix it.
Here's four in no particular order:
- Not gain charges (on any Diamond Flask) while under effect of Diamond Flask
- Melee only, no spells or ranged attacks
- +X00% crit chance, not 'always crit'
- Lock a Diamond Flask into the first slot of every character, remove from drop table, call it "limit break"
I dont think the diamond flasks are ridiculously op,
i just think that the mobs aren't scaling as well as armor late game,
Also why shouldn't spellcasters benefit from a diamond flask?
If anything CI crit shads and maras are even crazier and can effectively face tank under flask due to multiple leech effects proccing.
If we gave mobs the ability to have no leech abilities and higher res end game we won't have this problem.
diamond flasks are fine they are quick and powerful bursts of power at the cost of a flask slot which can be used for mana or defensive flasks.

it's simply losing a little defence for the occasional burst of power.
