Is there a "best" character/build for farming?

Leveling up my first character (marauder) right now, and I'm not worrying too much about how viable his build will be. I'm mostly just enjoying the story/atmosphere and experimenting with the skill tree/skill gems.

However at some point I'm going to want to make a character specifically meant for farming, since that's what I enjoyed most in D2 and I have no doubt that'll be true here as well.

So is there a particular area of the skill tree (str/dex/int, melee/ranged/spells/minions, etc) that are far and away better for farming loot?

For example in D2, prior to obtaining an Enigma it was generally accepted practice to use a Sorc as your first grind character since she had access to Teleport and 3 different schools of elemental damage.

Just curious if there's anything similar in PoE

Ethereal knives is pretty good thanks to it's high base damage.

Doesn't take much for it to 1-2 shot everything in docks and 66 maps. It's also burst damage so when mobs get hit by it they are stunned and can't fight back.
