Void the names of inactive players.
I believe it would be a good idea to force inactive players to lose their names and choose a new one after 3 months of inactive playing.
Its just not fair to claim names and lock them up for decades to come. Many games are starting to adapt a feature such as this, SWTOR is actually implementing a feature like this sometime next month. I personally feel that in a F2P game this feature is a necessity. This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

No. This is literally the worst idea I've ever seen on these forums.
Wish I could sage the thread. Player since closed beta 2012. Full system specs: https://pastebin.com/c4rvbvSR

Ya wont play this game because someone stole my name.
He has been an inactive player for over a year now, its not fair to let this go on as is. Last edited by Nekrage#1581 on Nov 7, 2013, 8:02:14 PM

Actually, here's how I'd do this:
- Each character has its name made available to everyone after a number of days of ACCOUNT inactivity equal to that character's level. - Logging into the account will reclaim all unclaimed names. - Characters that had their names claimed by someone else display the name in red. - Logging into a character who lost its name prompts you to rename it. Example: You have a level 20, a level 40 and a level 70 If you don't log into your Account for 50 days By the day 20, the level 20 character will have its name made available By the day 40, the level 40 character will have its name made available By the day 50, when you log into the account, you will automatically reclaim any unclaimed character names. ---- This greatly discourages players from creating a character and then letting it sit at low level just to claim the name. The player will need to level the character up, otherwise a prolonged account inactivity will end up relinquishing the character's name for other players to grab. " What if I went on holiday for 2 months and had no access to the internet? That's just unfair. I don't think there should be a 'feature' that unclaims your name. |

" ^This. Any online games should allow us to keep our names regardless whether the account is active or not. If someone took your preferred name, be creative and make a new one. |

Why not make it a microtransaction to make your character names permanent? One required per character.

If you vanish from the world for over 6 months then you deserve to have your character name revoked.
Its just not right to horde names for an inactive account that has been sitting there collecting dust for over a year, when there is a player actively playing and eager to use the name. I was the original creator of this name and have used it for over 8 years now, its not right for an inactive player to take it. Whats worse is that its a level 1 character. |
