Guild member limit thoughts

I was kind of bummed out to learn about the guild member limit of 30 players and that the only way to get more members in a guild is to purchase slots. To get more members the guild owner/leader has to purchase the additional slots. This means that you're likely going to be donating to the guild leader(s) as an individual in order to have a slot made available via the guild donation tab. That's great and all but I don't like the idea of paying someone else to make their account/guild better just for membership. Especially when they can just kick me out for being terrible at the game :(.

What if guilds had a maximum membership of 30 free players but could contain an unlimited number of paying players? The payment would be a microtransaction account feature that you can apply to one character. Pay 50 points to purchase a 'guild token' that enables your character to join a guild and not use up one of the free slots. Each character you have would need to have a token in order to join a guild, or they would consume a free slot.

This would allow you to have a number of people unwilling to part with their money to be part of the guild while allowing everyone else to join the guild without having to donate points to someone elses account. It increases the value of your own account and makes the process of joining a guild a bit less of a risk if they're asking for a donation for slots.

Maybe I'm just a cheap bastard and out of line?
The absolute maximum number of guild members is 200, so keep that in mind as well.
