" I play almost exclusively self found for a few reasons, and when I found this; I found out that I have no clue what makes a rare good because I thought that was about as badass as it got, so I excitedly said "yay" in global and was told it had no faster casting, mana regen, and some other crap. Woe is me. Last edited by steven_mcburn#0891 on Sep 12, 2013, 11:27:03 PM

The problem with sceptres and staves is that they're really schizophrenic. There are few builds out there that truly make use of both spell damage and attack damage, so rolling sceptres or staves that fit a build is difficult because the mod pool is larger.
If that sceptre had some flat fire or lightning instead of spell damage, it would be an okay sceptre ("badass" for self-found) for an elemental hit build - niche build, for sure, but still pretty sweet. Physical % instead of spell damage % would work too ostensibly, if you linked Added Fire Damage. As is, though, that sceptre just doesn't know what it wants to do with its life, and it ends up kind of mediocre as a result. Here are the non-physical daggers I'm using on my cold witch currently (both bought, but may still give you a good indication): (EDIT: For spellcasters:) High spell damage is good, as is critical chance/multiplier and cast speed. Mana regeneration is nice, too - hidden blessings on my daggers, since it pushed me over the threshold for not having to use mana flasks. Generally, an item with a consistent identity other than maybe 1 mod and mid to high rolls will be good. For non-physical attack weapons, you ideally want tri-elemental and increased attack speed. The higher the rolls, the better. Critical strike is good on those as well, but a bit more niche. If you have tri-elemental and attack speed on a weapon, I'm quite sure you'll be able to sell it (whether it's for a fusing, a chaos, or more, depends on the rolls). If it's 2-elemental and attack speed, with a good roll on one of the elements and/or critical strike, you should also be able to sell it. Need game info? " Dunno, 105% light damage seemed to really pop pop on those lightning spells. Guess that's just me enjoying sporking with 105% extra damage out of my 1h :-p Last edited by steven_mcburn#0891 on Sep 13, 2013, 1:08:35 AM
