Fire, Spell, Duration, AoE Cast Time: 1.2 Seconds Critical Strike Chance: 8% Per 1% Quality: .75% chance to ignite and increased burning damage Mana Cost: 30 Required Level: 31 After a 1 second delay, fire drops from the sky dealing x-y damage and leaves an area of burning ground that inflicts z damage per second to those that remain on it. Burning Ground lasts for 4 seconds. A 1 second delay inflicts 100% damage. Increasing the delay increases the damage proportionately. z=y/3 this is basically the skill that General Gravicius uses. I'd like to see it implemented as a player skill. The damage on Flame Strike needs to be high. This should be the poster skill for burning damage (so when it crits, you REALLY get to deal burning damage with it) This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

The skill General Gravicius uses is firestorm, which is a player skill. He also has a Fire Trap without the built-in trap gem.

Really? I noticed that it looked like a blast of fire fell from the sky just before the ground caught fire so I assumed that it was a different skill (and it inspired the idea).
Still, it would be nice to have a ranged skill that deals a large amount of fire damage in a big chunk (the fairly large casting time along with the delay would make it difficult to spam so the chunk could be bigger) |

" Although it's slightly off-topic, I really like this idea as a mechanic. There should be a skill (called 'Meteor Strike' or something) where the longer it takes to cast, the more damage it does per hit. So reduced cast time doesn't reduce your dps, and in fact in some situations could be useful. Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

also, since the general uses a fire trap, then I'm going to try something a little different (more in line with my original idea :P)
Flame Strike Fire, Chaos, Spell, Duration, AoE Cast Time: Toggle Critical Strike Chance: 8% Per 1% Quality: 1% increased chance to ignite on fire damage Mana Cost: 30 per second Required Level: 31 When cast, this spell Toggles on and drains 10 mana per second and you gain a "Channeling Charge" each second (maximum of 3 charges). Each Charge causes the spell to inflict an additional 150% damage. When toggled off, the spell activates at the cursor's location after a 1 second delay, inflicting x-y fire damage. 50% of the fire damage is converted into chaos damage. Flame Strike inflicts an additional 100% burning damage. -------------------------------------------------------- Since it starts at level 31, thinking 200-300 fire damage would be a good start (so 100-150 fire + 100-150 chaos). At full charge, it would inflict 1100-1650 total damage (343.75 dps roughly) The idea is a big hit after a long delay for maximum burn. This one is loosely based off the D&D flame strike (which was half divine energy, Chaos fits that mold pretty well) this better? |

" Not really, it kills the ignite it has as quality bonus by splitting the damage between fire and chaos. Also, delay skills are really for solo play only, with fast clearing teammates you sometimes struggle to contribute even with fire trap or explosive arrow. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

" that's the reason for the 100% increased burn damage. it still burns for the total damage inflicted while half of the initial damage bypasses ES and fire resistance. and yes, it probably would be good only in solo play (or against bosses) elemental proliferation would be a nice paring with it though. And Flame Strike isn't an analogue to Meteor Strike, it's an analogue to Flame Strike :P |

I think it would be cool if they did something like this, but named it "Meteor Strike", made the cast time much higher, made the explosion a big circle, with varying chances of burn from the center to the edge of the blast and a pulse wave from the the blast knocking stuff outside of the circle back a tiny bit...
