Insane Undead Army...

So I have a frosty/crit witch and a fire witch. I was thinking of creating a pure summoner/aura type build using wands as backup. I was wondering something. I have skill gems out the ass, If I equipped 2 or 3 raise zombie skill gems, would that grant me 6 to 9 zombies at any one given time plus more adding the passive minion nodes? If this is the case, I can see a very interesting build come into play especially linking a cold/fire/shock gem, add minion life, etc... to the minions. Thanks :)

No, adding multiple raise zombie gems will not increase the amount of zombies you can raise beyond 8 at most (with passives). This used to not be the case and it was abused by those who did not think it was an exploit. The devs, however, did realize it as a bug/exploit and fixed it with the release of patch 9.12

With uniques you can get to 10 zombies.

I'm currently on 9.

Totally skipped those over, lol, though the main point of not being able to summon a massive zombie army from multiple gems still remains the same.

Still need to get my hands on those two uniques. Already got the sidhebreath
Thanks for the answers :) But it's all good. Experimented last night and currently have 5 perm zombies, 7 skeletons and 1 spectre so at any one time have 6 perms and 13 undead running around doing mass slaughter :D always makes my day....

I can't see how it would be considered an exploit. You can have two, let's say, cleave gems that are modified differently - one with fire and one with frost. Now you can use one cleave with frost and one with fire. Not seeing how utilizing 2 separate zombie gems would be considered an sploit. I would have one group doing frost dmg and one group doing fire dmg - how much fun would THAT be lol!

You can, technically, do that with the zombie gem as well. You can link one zombie gem with fire and one with frost and have a cold batch and a hot batch (which you could summon a few from one and a few from another...or just pop both gems onto a single zombie gem), but not two full sets of each at the same time. Even with two cleave skills, you cannot use them both at the same time, so why would you be able to use the max amount of zombies from separate gems both at the same time?
Above all else, though, it was clearly a game mechanic the devs never intended to actually be used in the game, and they made sure it could not be. It was used to bypass minion limits they had set.

You can't both have your cake & eat it.
99% of suggested changes would make the game easier. Thats why only 1% of suggested ideas are even worth considering.
How often do you encounter a Summoner witch? I mean is this spec used very often by players?
