Is there a Cap on Area of Effect Radius?

Im currently at 70% increased area of effect on my Infernal Blow (Using Increased Area of Effect Gem)

I added Amplify Node, and im still at 70%,(on the tooltip) and no increased dmg.

any idea?

thanks

No, there is no cap.

Are you sure that you're reading the right information?
Be sure to also check your 'c'haracter sheet, and post some pictures if you can.
I think the tooltip show only the gem's native AoE and those from supported gems, not including bonus from passive AoE nodes ?

You'd have to check the AoE of the skill in the character sheet directly. Even that, I guess, would show only the "AoE increase from supported gems and passive skills", not the "total AoE"

Btw, the AoE damage from infernal blow is only on corpse explosion, so it's also not included on the tooltips, which is the based malee damage only. I'm not even sure if that damage could be increase by the Amplify node since it's based only on the corpse max HP...

I cannot play the game now, so I cannot verify on that. This is just from my memory lol...
thanks for the responses

Im chaining Infernal Blow with Melee Splash, however, Infernal Blow is an AOE skill, due to the explosion from the corpse, meaning it *Should* be affected by the aoe passives and Gem yes?

The passives also grant increased Area Damage , which also is not registering.

perhaps this is just an oversight from GGG, not having it display correctly in the tooltip.

Edit**

So after checking the4 character sheet it does in fact show 123% increased Area of Effect on Infernal Blow.

Would be nice if they addressed this in the tooltip however.

thanks~

Despite the incredibly illogical replies, yes there is a cap.
It may be extremely high (let's throw out an insane 700%), but there is a cap.
There is a limit to how much you can actually obtain.
Even if you were to hack, there is still a limit to how much you could get.
That's why it's called a cap.

Yes, there is a cap to +AoE.

I, personally, would call that a "soft cap" instead. Since, unlike elemental resistance which has a "cap" coded directly into the core, the AoE, and whatever thing in the game, is limited only to those from skill gems / armors / passive nodes.

And, maybe, if I could hack the data, and set the skill AoE value to be 1000%, as long as the number is not overflow, it might work.
In the other hand, if I change a character resistance value to 100, it would got chopped down by the game "maximum resistance value", who knows?

maybe GGG.

:D

Edit: Should it be "soft cap" or "hard cap" here? I don't really know :'\

There is no hard cap for increased AOE.

You are limited to about +90% through gear an passives. This is a soft cap as there might be more gear available in future that will increase the % available. If by some means you were able to hack into you character and be able to change the AOE you could set it to any number you want.
RIP Bolto
There is no cap you could reach with the current AoE skill/nodes in the game.

If you combine Infernal Blow + Melee Splash, you can reach crazy amounts of AoE since Melee Splash takes into consideration every AoE and range increase from linked gems and equipped gear, meaning

Infernal Blow 20% (q20)
Melee Splash 20% (q20)
Increased AoE 43% (q20)
Carcass Jack 20%
Templar AoE node cluster 20%
Witch AoE node Cluster 20%
Skill Tree mid AoE nodes 12%
Master of the Arena weapon range +2
Daresso's Salute weapon range +2
Wideswing poleaxe weapon range +2

meaning you would have a total of +6 weapon range and +155% increased AoE. If you do this you cover the whole screen and maybe more (iirc I was at nearly whole screen with +2/+140ish%) with your Melee Splash :D

Unarmed for life! (although I do like maces too recently)
Would the weapon range take into the calculation here ? I think it'd just make the center of the AoE could move further away, not increasing it. It might giving an impression of "bigger AoE", but not ?
weapon range affects the base AoE of skills such as cleave if I recall.
