Constantly high ping - EU Gateway
I'm getting unusually high ping on EU Gateway, namely 130-150ms, whereas normally i'm sitting at stable 50.

From the first hop it appears as though you are getting very high latency spikes, from 1-162ms. As this is the connection between your PC and modem, it can indicate there is an issue with your home network. Are you currently using a wireless connection?

I'm connected to a wired LAN, also ping spikes aren't the problem, i never drop below 130ms. I also asked around in game chat and it seems that i'm not the only one experiencing higher than usual ping today.

" You aren't understanding what Jason is saying. Your WinMTR report shows a high latency on your FIRST HOP. That is a problem (not necessarily THE problem). If you're getting 162ms ping responses from your modem/router, you have issues beyond the rest of the network. That is an issue just accessing your routing device for whatever reason. If you're on a hard-wired connection, then this leads me to believe it is either your network card (or drivers) at fault, your network cabling (plausible but I doubt), or your modem/router device itself is not functioning correctly. You should be getting almost instant ping responses on EVERY hop to your router/modem. When I say instant, I mean within 50ms (and even 50ms is kind of high). Most people get less than 10ms response times to their modem/router. The problem with having such a high latency at your first hop is that a network works through a series of connections, and it is additive. So if you get bad pings to your first hop, the second hop is at least as bad, and somewhat worse as the response time to the second hop is "first hop" plus "network between first and second". You connect to a device which connects to a device which connects to a different device and so on until your reach your destination. The total latency is the addition of all of those hop times between devices. So get your first hop better, then we can look at the rest of the network if things haven't improved. " Who cares if i had one spike on my first hop, when it's average response is very good? This can't possibly be causing CONSTANTLY high latency, but it seems like you didn't even read the whole topic before you tried to "help". Anyway, the problem was on 9th hop, which now seems obvious to me, since my ping to it equaled my ingame latency. It's fixed now, i still get one spike on my first hop every 30 minutes or so, which doesn't affect my ingame latency which is back to 50. Topic can be closed, thx. IGN YuanMoons
