Dual-wielding Rebukes? Looking for Advice!

Recently I inherited a pair of Rebuke of the Vaal swords;

Which is cool and stuff and I'd like to make a build that uses them. But it seems like a difficult sort of thing to do. I'm using this as a first sort of draft, but am I completely missing the point? Also, is using Blackhearts/Infernal Mantle/Quality Added Chaos damage the only way to improve the chaos damage on the swords?

This build doesn't have to be a Duelist build - it can be whatever so long as it's effective.
DW Rebuke of the Vaal? That is awesome. Good for you.

I kept a dualist and tweaked your build somewhat. Some of this is based on Sebash's build found here: and some is my own thoughts.

I see you went for inner force, so I assume you'll be running a lot of auras. I suggest following Sebash's build and getting the reduced mana reservation nodes. This will help you maximize the number of auras. If you're only running a few aura's, inner force doesn't add as much and it might not be worth all the points getting there.

I see you're running a hybrid evasion and armour. I'd suggest grabbing some dual wield block nodes too. It should stack nicely with evade as both checks have to fail for you to be hit. I also like how you've gone with a crit build. That will definitely build on the strength of the rebuke which is all that elemental damage.

Here's another possible build that's similar to yours. I think it has a lot fewer travel nodes and grabs some good stuff on the way around. It's a few more points than you had specced out, but not much.

I wouldn't worry about stacking chaos damage since there's currently no way to add % increases for that damage type. Although... You could stack fire damage, use a cold to fire support and wear Infernal Mantle. Maybe use elemental hit with melee splash or multistrike as your main attach. Two out of three strikes (fire and cold) would end up dealing additional chaos damage, though I'm not sure it's enough to build around. You could go CI so Infernal Mantle works with your build. Probably not a dualist, maybe a shadow.

This is so much more fun than working.

Hmmm, your build gives me a bit to think about. I love that it gets Lava Lash and Ice Bite, which I think is very cool. I feel like only getting the Disemboweling set of nodes is going a bit half-measures on getting crits, since you're only boosting the crit chance to 12%, and getting Twin Terrors as well raises that to 18.25% (I think). My intention was to run the three ele damage auras and perhaps not much else, so Inner Force perhaps could be dropped and replaced with Cruelty to make those crits much more useful. It feels like there are a lot of small changes in the way that this could be done overall, but whether any one thing is better or worse might be up for debate. Thanks!
No problem. You're right, there are a lot of ways to make any build. That's part of why PoE is so fun.

Here's another thought. It's a Templar CI build. This will let you use the Infernal Mantle without worrying about survivability. It's a lot of points, but you can pair it down.

This build has:
174% increased fire
144% increased lightning
114% increased cold
20% chance to shock
290% crit chance
80% crit multiplier
61% elemental resists from passives

If you use hatred and anger, and link your main dps skill to maximize fire damage, you'll end up with the most chaos damage with Infernal Mantle. A good skill might be dual strike with either melee splash or multistrike for AoE.

Dual Strike - multi/splash - added chaos - cold to fire - weapon elemental damage - crit multiplier

Added fire or added cold are possibilities too.

Remember, converted damage is increased by modifiers for everything it has been. So with hatred, your physical damage is converted to cold, which is converted to fire with cold to fire, which is converted to chaos with Infernal Mantle. That chaos damage is then multiplied by all your increases to physical, fire, cold, and chaos, and then multiplied by the more weapon elemental damage.

Other ways to maximize your fire damage would be uniques like Ignomon, Lioneyes Paws or Windscream, Hrimnor's Resolve or Chitus' Apex, and the Auxiom belt.

General tip. Make sure you stack crit multiplier with your crit chance. You'll get more dps if your hits are bigger, even if you crit less often.

I'll be curious what you end up doing.
