Max Resists is 75%?

I couldn't find the answer to this so I figured I'd post a thread.
Is the max elemental resistances capped at 75%? I am currently level 49, just finished the thief quests and helped Kraityn for the +8 resists. I've been doing the same thing for the previous difficulties. But I noticed my cold resist was capped at 75% and it didnt go any higher when I received the quest reward. So does this mean the max resists is at 75%? Should I opt for the HP reward after merciless then? I am a dual wielding duelist at the moment. MFJonesHC

You can increase the maximum resistances to 90% I believe. 6% from passive nodes near the marauder, 5% from a unique and 4% from an aura. I would get the resists again since the other rewards suck .

Interesting. So to clarify, resists can only go up to 75% from items/quest reward then?

If you took resists as a duelist, you're pretty much screwed. The only way you can raise your resist cap is by taking passives all the way west past the marauder tree.
The only way you can make it count is to find very optimal gear with an amazing combination of other stats and a notable lack of resists. Most people go with Oak or kill all 3 for this reason. By helping kraityn you probably just invested 8 points to overcap all resists. --

yeah, resists are capped at 75% unless you do something special to raise that cap.

Thanks for the input and suggestion guys, really appreciate it. I guess this is why some of us is playing the closed beta, trial and error right?
As a duelist I don't think it is too difficult to reach the resists/hp nodes that are near the marauder's section of the skill tree. Definitely doable in the later levels. Are elemental resistances a big part of the game? I personally can't comment on this yet as my resists have been fluctuating. Would like to know what you guys think of resists and how worth it is. Having more than enough resists to reach the 75% cap isn't always a complete waste, when you factor in things like monsters that cast elemental weakness, and map mods that reduce player resists. In those cases the extra "wasted" resist comes into play.
eg if you have +70% fire resist and get hit with -30% elemental weakness, you'll end up at 40% fire resist while affected by the curse. But if you have +100%, you'll normally be capped at 75%. But that same curse will only drop you down to 70%. |

" IMO you absolutely want to be resist capped in Ruthless pyramid and anywhere there is elemental damage in Merciless. It's pretty easy to cap to 75% because of the 30% rings and how common resist affixes are on rare gear. I didn't think about how stacking more resist could overcome curses, though it makes sense. |

Thanks for your input. I would think getting more resist would probably be better if I am trying to go for a semi-tanky/dps build. On the grand scheme of things I thought +32 all resists would be more beneficial than +180 hp.
