![]() The game is starting it's alpha phase and if enough people sign up for the alpha you can get a free copy on Steam. Here is a video of gameplay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRoKpk_jSi0 www.wizardwars.com Remember when I won a screenshot contest and made everyone butt-hurt? Pepperidge Farm remembers. Just noticed this is now available for early access on Steam as f2p, though there are what appear to be p2w starter packs available.
Has anyone played much of this yet? It looks like it could be brilliant, would love to hear some opinions from people who have played before deciding whether to fork out for the $50 archmage thing. |

Watched the PvP mode on a stream, was pleasantly surprised in how much fun it looks and how much strategy can be involved. I am fairly certain that this game will have a lot of potential. :)

" I played the original Magicka for a bit and quite enjoyed it iirc, though I see I didn't actually spend that long on it. The spell system is cool, and not entirely unlike the skill gem system in PoE in terms of combining different basic skill elements to create a nearly endless list of possible skill combinations. You mix different skills together at the same time to make new skills, like meteor + fire = flaming meteor etc, except you have to perform the entire combination every time you cast the spell rather than precombining them with skill gems and sockets :) I think the problem I had was that there were just too many combinations and I found it overwhelming initially trying to remember them all in the heat of battle. Definitely going to take another look at this though as it seems more interesting than the original version :) |

I have played it a little bit here and there with a friend and had a blast when I played it. If you are into games that actually take some strategy and skill, I think you will end up loving it.
