Fire Trap + Spell Totem

If you link spell totem with fire trap will the totem cast fire traps or will it just not work?
If my internet wasn't capped, I would hop on right now and help you.

Good question.

Totems can't cast traps, afaik.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

From the wiki:
"When a Trap, Remote Mine, and Totem skill are all linked in combination, the result is a skill that lays a mine. When the mine is detonated, it lays a trap. When the trap is sprung, it casts a totem, which then can cast the linked skill.

Therefore totems can never lay traps or mines. Totems can not be made to cast other totems. "

The wiki is talking about the
support gem, not traps in general.

Totems can't lay traps in general either, though, but it won't work like your queote suggests - a trap won't lay a totem unless it's the trap support gem.

It is, to some extent, talking about the general case - the fire trap gem literally is a fire AoE skill which includes the stats from the trap support in the base gem. If we allowed a spell totem to support fire trap, it would result in a trap which summoned a totem that cast the effect of fire trap at nearby enemies (just like Gravicius uses that skill without traps).
The "trapped" state is lower in precedence than "totemified", and this cannot be different for different skills - that order of operations applies to all totems/traps/mines. Because "Fire Trap + Totem = trapped fire totem" isn't intuitive, we don't allow totem supports to apply to traps, nor trap supports to apply to mines.
Somewhat related follow-up--If I'm using a fire trap with iron will, does the cast speed reduction have any effect? I know trap laying speed is a different stat altogether, but does the trap itself have a cast speed for using its skill? It seems nearly instantaneous when the trap is triggered.
Traps do use cast speed, but as noted, their animation causes the spell to 'go off' right near the start, so the effect of it is less noticeable than on players.
