Summoners - How important is +2 Minion Helm?

Here is my current build:

Here is my current helm:


It is extremely frustrating to even attempt to find an upgrade for this helm as the +2 Minion modifier really restricts my options.

How important is this? My gems are level 17 currently, anyone run a summoner without +2 Minion helms?

Should I exalt it?

I run without the +2 minion gem thing on my helmet, and got as far as lvl 90. :)

Like the summoner unique items, its cool to have but not mandatory.
Any other feedback?

I guess i can just buy a new helm and if my Zombies start to suck...swap back.

On lvl 20 the difference is 2k HP,some Dmg and Resistance(not sure how much).
Why would you want another helm? The +2 is really stong. I mean u spec into Minion HP Nodes and all of them maybe give as much as the + 2. If your a Summoner you need only defensive stats on gear and you have HP on it and a really nice IIR/IIQ what would you want more? In my opinnion no stat is as stong as the + 2. But in the end you decide if its worth to drop it.

I run an extremely summon-heavy build (All minions nodes, 4 auras, only offensive spell is Arc + Chain + Ele Proliferate). While the +minion item could give my zombies an extra few K HP, they already push 16k HP. They are very tanky, and explode for a lot of damage when overwhelmed.

I recently switched from a Wand+Matua Taupuna(+1minion) setup to a 6S Queen's Decree. The extra minions are considerably more helpful by comparison. 4 of those tentacle specters with LMP/GMP has been much mroe effective for me than the +minion part of my shield ever was.

The helm slot will be my only +minion possible slot now, but I wouldn't turn down a large ES/mana increase on my helm if it cost me a +minion roll. For me, it's a "nice to have" but not a requirement.

if you play burning zombie setup its mandatory

why ? cause add fire add to zombie physical dmg
so if the zombie has high skilllvl he has high physical dmg which will benefit your add fire setup

otherwise its just a lifeboost i dont have one either only job my zombies have is to stand in the way between me and my spectre

It's not mandatory, but you won't get better mod on helm then this one. Going from lvl 21 to lvl 22 zombies (19->20 gem) was worth 2K+ hp alone so i would expect loosing about 3.5K or even more (don't have all minion live nodes in my build). Unless you've a really insane helm i wouldn't drop +2 minion lvls mod.
My opinion that +minions mod is *mandatory* for any summoner build until summon zombies hit lvl15-17 with minion life support - then it's safe to ditch +2 to summons for other stuff depending on your priorities.

For my summoners I usually equip Matua Tupuna ASAP and then run wit it til end of a3 merc, when having more ES on shield is more beneficial. I usually switch to Rathpith or its rare equivs since I tend to use spells a lot with summons being bostly meat shields.

Same goes for helmets, obviously - I'd rather hve a lot +ES and resists on it, and +summons would be just a nice bonus.
I ditch +2 minion helm when my zombie gem hit lv 16.
