To the developer of POE from indie game developer

I am also myself an indie game developer. Mine is browser mmorpg : http://www.monstermmorpg.com/

Now what i am going to tell is please do everything as much as possible via server side check. I am also a d3 player and there are countless exploits at the d3 right now.

The very recent example is buy items from bid price. Why is that possible ?

Because those noob developers of blizzard did not put a server side check when the buy command sent. That simple. If they had put server side check, this would never happen.

This is just an example. If you give value to your game, pleae be careful with such things. I am pretty confident that your game will blow away d3 :)

It is an extremely noobish thing at mmorpg games that depend on client side check but i am getting amazed as i see this exploits exist at d3 a such huge company behind it with a lot of experience. So i just wanted to remind you. Never ever think that people won't find a way to exploit when coding ^^

I actually cannot believe that so many games still fail to make validity checks.

Everything needs a validity check :P

The worst cases I've seen:

Vac Hack in Maplestory. Ability to put corpses and gear in the wrong slots, allowing you to wear gear others cannot in various games. Speed hacking, teleporting, zoning. Using skills you don't actually have (Everquest.)

And so on...

Some to test in POE: Opening town pages while in an instance. Picking up items you are not physically standing next to. Zoning or waypointing or TPing while at a remote location.

Don't be offended OP but this sounds like you just plugging your site/game. You gave very basic advice (personally I cannot believe Blizzard didn't cover this) and put a nice commercial for your site as part of it. Too me this screams advertising and should be in Off Topic section.

i never said my game is very good. but even i am doing every possible validity check

but seems like blizzard is not doing and many other mmorpg games i have seen

this post also explains a lot of things

this was just a reminder and seems like indie games are better at this kind of stuff :D
