Coping with dying in Onslaught

So ive been a softcore noob for a little while and was like "Hey lets try this hardcore thing out." So I played hardcore and decide to go the discharge build. So far ive gotten to level 50 on 3 discharge characters and died on all of them. Pretty much wasting 3 days of work.

How do you cope? :(

Edit: the only way ill try this game 1 more time is if someone is willing to donate an exalted :). <3

Just go back to standard, it's where you belong.
The 50's are honestly the most dangerous time for me too man. just take time to over level yourself a bit and you will be good to go. it may be a little boring but its worth it. losing a 50 sucks.

I'd say the main way to cope with dying in hc (or any game with "perma-death") in general is to tell yourself that you will die eventually no matter what. i've played quite a lot of 'rogue-likes' or other unforgiving games in the past, so 'my hc mindset' mostly revolves around enjoying the journey - it often seems like some people play hc to prove something to themselves (or others... judging by all the default vs. hc nonsense on the forums) and rage about having wasted oh so much time when one of their characters die, and i'm often confused why those people play hc in the first place.

I'm not implying that you're of that sort or that 'hc might be too hardcore for you' or any elitist nonsense like that, but if you have to look for coping mechanisms in the first place default/anarchy might be more suited for you - there's nothing special about playing hc, there's nothing to prove by playing hc, and there most certainly is nothing wrong with playing default/anarchy and if you don't like dying and consider the time it takes to reach some imaginary goal like 'reaching endgame' to be wasted whenever you die, be it after a day or a week, you might end up getting very, very frustrated over and over again.

The 50s is a very hard time for new characters. I'd play incredibly safe and over-level zones just to be sure unless you have good gear stashed up. That's a way to avoid dying.

As for how to cope, always save your good low level gear so remaking characters is a lot easier. When you twink out a new character you can breeze through normal and cruel.
Just multiclient or get boosted by a friend, grind in pubs, lvl 60+ in a day
to be a hardcore player, you just have to love the aspect that you might die and lose all your shit. that's what makes the game fun to me, to know that if i fuck up, that i risk losing all my gear.

i really think dark souls got me into this hardcore type of mindset, before that i would always play softcore in games. well, i guess in d2 it was hard to play hardcore, i did once get to level 76 on a javazon, got 1 shot ko by a tppker lol. stayed away from HC for my entire d2 career after that.
