Anyone who is a little bit interested in the lore of Path of Exile should read this. It's the perfect guide to the complete story and it gives you a lot of background information. I don't know who wrote this, but he/she did a great job! Last edited by hafje#6051 on Jul 8, 2013, 6:10:06 AM

The link you have there isn't working. Do you mean this?

I thought Daresso was Merveil's Husband (he gave her the gem he carved out of the singer - Kalisa). Possibly making her a kind of a gemling, if a corrupted one?

Oh, so experiments with altering body with gems and magic are nothing new and were quite common in Empire. Sarn/Wraeclast just got bit grimmer, and with bit cyberpunky feeling(dehumanizing body alterations for sake of power).
Purity rebellion was probably purely intended to help Kaoms forces capture the Sarn, by slaying gemlings serving in defense of Empire. Also that's why it could be called purity - target was to slay not pure humans aka gemlings. It would be quite interesting if knowledge of creating gemling would be achievable to players with couple of dark choices - sacrificing ones humanity for power. In game represented getting passives for some gems which would also modify looks(optionally) and possible dialogues. Surely its ARPG, not some deep RPG but it could greatly enchant dark fantasy feeling(and that's the thing that brought me to the game), allowing player to become powerful miss-creation. Also too bad than Oriath is mostly untouched. Still I guess that after purity rebelion its quite harder to experiment on living with thaumaturgy so Piety had to visit Wraeclast to recover knowledge and conduct them. Maybe there is some great threat to Oriant. This would make Piety actions somehow justifiable and again enchant dark fantasy feeling. Or maybe Ebony Legion wants to gain strength secretly. |

I'm not one for lore much, but I did read this - great work :)
" One question, has it ever been elaborated upon as to why the earth of Wraeclast rejected the dead? Was it a biological, scientific reason or does the island of Wraeclast have a mind of it's own? (Sorry, thinking Lost here.) |

" Well the same karui stone says it's because of the 'black spirit of storm' which infests the ground and causes the dead to rise. But what caused this storm (probably the Twist) or what it really is, is unknown at this point. |
