Blackgleam Quiver Damage Conversion Question
Hi there. I'm a brand new player to PoE, but having played D3 and TL2 jumped right into Onslaught league. After a Merveil kill I got this item:
Which states that it converts some of my physical damage into fire damage. My question is: How does this affect my spells? Specifically, if I use fire arrow, which states that it does 100% phys + 30% bonus fire damage, will it now only use the remaining 57% unconverted phys damage to calculate the bonus fire damage? Also, how does this affect lightning arrow? Basically my main fear is that by using this quiver, I am sacrificing 43% of my physical damage, which is permanently converted into fire. Is that how the quiver works or am I (fortunately) mistaken? Thanks! |

" 1) Fire arrow is an Attack not a Spell. This is a very important distinction. Spells and Attacks are both subsets of Skills. 2) All physical conversion and added damage is applied to the original physical damage. 3) Blackgleam will never directly reduce the damage you do. 4) Blackgleam also applies to Spells. But you probably won't use it for spells, since there are only two spells in the game which do physical damage. Brutus. Do you even sync? Last edited by AnnanFay#3468 on Jun 15, 2013, 1:19:52 AM

" Thanks for the reply. I looked up Burning Arrow again and this is what I am getting: Start with 53% phys, 47% fire. 30% Increased Physical Damage = 53*1.3 = 68.9% phys 30% of Physical Damage added as Fire = 68.9*0.3 = 20.67% fire Total damage = 68.9% phys + (47% fire from quiver) + (20.67% from attack) = 68.9% phys, 67.7% fire. Am I getting the math right? Burning arrow does state "30% increased phys damage", would that se also apply to the 47% fire conversion on Blackgleam? Assuming a level 20 Burning Arrow
Start with 100% basedmg Basedmg x 1.57 (100%base + 57% bonus from BA) = 157% moddmg 1.57 x 0.57 = 89.49% moddmg as physdmg 157% x 0.43 = 67.51% of moddmg as firedmg from BA 157% x 0.3 = 47.1% added firedmg So 89.49 phys 67.51 fire +47.1 fire ----------- 204.10% total damage ... I think I haven't mathed in awhile Btw where is the 30% increased physical damage coming from in your equation? |

" The increased physical damage also applies before conversions. Rather than explain more or show an example it would be much better if I just linked to this wonderful explanation on the wiki. Brutus. Do you even sync? Last edited by AnnanFay#3468 on Jun 15, 2013, 8:21:43 AM
