Non dagger, non claw melee shadow builds?

I've always loved how a different weapon in arpgs (or rpgs in general) makes you play so differently. for example, in Diablo 2 I played a dual wield sword assassin. in Neverwinter Nights I had a Red Dragon Disciple with a Scythe specialization.

but what's always irked me about Shadows in this game, is that they have a very limited range of melee weaponry. they're assassins, for god's sake! they should be used to killing using anything! sure, they focus on stealth (daggers) or exotic (claws) type of fighting, but I've never seen a shadow wield an axe, or a mace, that's actually central to their build. (well, except for swords. ele cleave, etc.)

so, does anyone know any axe or mace or even sword centred melee builds for shadow?

Well, you could just use any weapon and take the basic nodes, instead of weapon specific ones (most of those in the shadow area aren't great anyway) and come up with your own build.
Take a look at the unique weapons, then choose what you like.
You could, for example, use Terminus Est (granting Frenzy Charge on crit) and Flicker all day long around the map.

I dunno. I'm searching for weapon - specific builds like these to make the most of patch 11. don't get me wrong, uniques are great, it's just that their power is capped. For example, a Marohi has 400 DPS (but granted, it has awesome AOE mods and very high average damage per hit) but a search on poe.xyz reveals a 500+ dps axe.

I'm actually kinda going for a serial killer like theme. imagine Vaas fused with the possessed guy in the Shining. that's why I'm choosing the shadow start. shadows have always been portrayed as cool killers, but not as crazy psychopathic ones.

For no apparent reason I tend to choose the Shadow for most characters I'm playing.
Working on a Cleaver too, but not that Ele DMG one.

Players seem to be overly obsessed with numbers. That Marohi is already strong enough. Once you're able to one-hit all those normal enemies, you won't really need more damage.

sure I'm concerned about numbers. numbers show a lot of stuff on how your build's going to work. Marohi has I believe the highest damage per hit of any weapon I've seen. its dps is low because of its very slow attack speed.

but now that you mentioned it, a build for a Shadow using Marohi would be awesome.

Staves are so cool on the Shadow, so I usually use FP+ the cold staff, but I sure would like a dw sword/axe or a staff melee shadow!
2H shadow sucks... the animations are really bad.

don't, just don't, 1H unique weapons suck reaaaaaaally hard for most of them.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

IKR? only the unique claws, daggers, and some staves are good for shadows. That's why I don't want to be limited to just the first two. :P I think only the 2H sword animations are bad. it's doesn't really suit with the shadow's posture.

Unique claws are okay for some but are easily outclassed by good rares claws, unique daggers are quite bad ( they are okay for farming, but there is so much better than those, especially since dagger is probably the weapon with the highest pysical scaling ), unique 1H swords are .... just lol, unique 1H axes ... don't even exist and unique 1H maces are like the 1H swords.

As for 2H unique, there is terminus est, the kaom's axe and mahori that seems pretty nice ( mahori costs an airplane thought ), that's why I wanted to point out the terrible 1H ones ^^" ( I want at least one 1H axe :'( )
