Game Crashes Every Time I Die – Video Included

Hello,

I’m experiencing a consistent issue in Path of Exile 1(started act 9-10). Every time my character dies, the entire game immediately crashes to desktop.

This happens 100% of the time and makes the game unplayable. I have recorded a video showing the issue.

Here are my system details:

CPU: AMD RYZEN 9 3900X 12-Core

GPU: AMD RADEON RX 5700 XT

RAM: 32GB

Platform: (Steam)

Renderer used (DX11 / DX12 / Vulkan):

I have already tried basic troubleshooting (changing renderer, lowering graphics settings, verifying files), but the issue persists.

Please die again.

I was hoping the log file would contain information about the crash, but it just records the death and then ends.

Does the Event Viewer have any relevant incidents recorded?



On the left, click on Windows Logs, and then System

On the right, click on Filter Current Log, and tick event levels Critical and Error

I've not had a chance to hop onto a Windows-based device to examine the Event Viewer file just yet.

But I'm curious whether it might be your gloves' enchantment. At the risk of sounding like a crazy person - could you put them in your stash, die, and let us know whether your client still crashes?

You were absolutely right. It was caused by the gloves' enchantment.

I tested it as suggested. When I remove the gloves or equip a different pair, the game no longer crashes after death.

Ah, okay - well, at least we've tracked it down, so.

Unfortunately, this does mean you'll need to wait for GGG to fix this in a future update. At this point, we're probably looking at 3.28 on the 6th of March as an absolute best case scenario. Although we're close enough to them needing that update finalised to begin the certification process for consoles that I definitely wouldn't be overly confident of a fix for this making it in. But on the bright side, it's probably a fairly trivial fix (e.g. a required asset not being included in the build or whatever).
