Map-rarity seems to suppress abyssal-specific drops
|
I ran an Abyssal Overrun map with heavy investment including Omen of Chaotic Rarity and Abyssal-focused tablets. While I profited ~250 Ex, the Abyssal-specific drops were completely underwhelming.
Investment (~110-120 Ex): Omen of Chaotic Rarity: 100 Ex Result: T15 Map with 120% increased rarity In addition 46% magicfind on character gear. Tablets (Abyssal-focused): - 33% increased rare monsters - 27% increased rarity of items found - 18% increased rarity found - 8% increased effectiveness - 62% increased magic monsters - 24% chance for additional modifiers - 6 additional rare mobs spawned per Abyss (2 additional mobs × 3 tablets) Returns (~350-370 Ex): Generic Currency: - 20 Ex, 1 Divine (300 Ex), 12 Regal, 2 Annul, other currency - 9 tablets back Abyssal-Specific Loot: - 1 Preserved Rib - 0 Abyssal Omens Essentially no Abyssal currency No notable Abyssal jewels/uniques Net Profit: ~250 Ex (entirely dependent on the single Divine drop) For an Abyssal Overrun map stacked with Abyssal-focused modifiers (increased rare monsters, effectiveness, additional mobs), getting zero Abyssal Omens and almost no Abyssal-specific currency is statistically highly improbable. I normally get more Abyssal-specific drops from regular maps with scattered standard Abysses. Does Omen of Chaotic Rarity suppress mechanic-specific loot tables in favor of generic drops? It appears that rarity/rare monster modifiers may be converting Abyssal mobs away from their dedicated loot pools. As this is a single run, further testing is needed to confirm this pattern. It would be helpful if GGG could provide clearer information on which modifiers actually influence mechanic-specific loot drops. Currently, it's unclear whether rarity/rare monster modifiers benefit or harm league-mechanic-specific rewards. Run-Comparison
RUN 1 - Abyssal Overrun (120% Rarity): Investment: ~110-120 Ex - Omen of Chaotic Rarity: 100 Ex (result: 120% rarity on map) - Tablets: 33% rare monsters, 27% rarity, 18% rarity, 8% effectiveness, 62% magic monsters, 24% additional modifiers, 6 additional rare mobs per Abyss - Setup Time: Significant (sourcing map, tablets, omen) Loot: - 20 Ex, 1 Divine, 12 Regal, 2 Annul, 1 Chaos - 5 Greater Transmutes, 1 Perfect Transmute, 7 Greater Augments, 2 Gem Cutter's Prism - 5 Augment Runes, 9 Tablets, 2 T15 Maps - 1 Preserved Rib, 2 Uniques, 3 Rings/Amulets - Abyssal Omens: 0 Total Value: ~350-370 Ex (profit ~250 Ex) RUN 2 - Normal T15 (Basic Tablets): Investment: ~5-10 Ex Plain Map 40% rarity and 35% rare monsters Tablets: 1 Irradiated, 1 Ritual, 1 Abyss Setup Time: Minimal Loot: - 11 Ex, 6 Regal, 1 Perfect Regal, 3 Chaos, 5 Vaal, 1 Chance - 2 Greater Transmutes, 5 Greater Augments, 1 Perfect Augment - 7 Augment Runes, 1 Rare Augment Rune, 1 Tablet - 2 Uniques, 4 Rings/Amulets - Abyssal Omens: 4 (2 Sinistral, 2 Dextral) - Exceptional Ancestral Tiara (min 70 Div / 21,000 Ex) Total Value: ~21,050-21,060 Ex (profit ~21,040-21,050 Ex) Abyssal-Specific Loot: The Abyssal Overrun with heavy Abyssal investment produced 0 Abyssal Omens, while the basic T15 produced 4 Abyssal Omens. High-Value Items seem to drop regardless of investment: The Exceptional Ancestral Tiara (70 Div) dropped in a low-rarity, minimal investment run. While this is likely luck, it raises questions about whether extreme juicing is worth the time and currency investment. Time Investment vs. Reward: The Abyssal Overrun required sourcing a specific map, acquiring specific tablets, purchasing and applying an expensive omen, and significantly more setup time. The normal T15 required minimal preparation and still had access to the same high-value drop pool. |
