Game Freezing Whole PC

Hi all,

This is POE2 related.

I posted on the PoE2 Early Access Bug Reports forum and have been advised by GGG support to post it here instead as they "don't have the resources to offer technical support".

Hopefully this gets wider coverage...

I have only been encountering this the past few weeks (despite playing since day 1 of launch) but when playing poe2 only, at random maybe once every few hours, my game would freeze the whole computer and the sound just stutters, only fix is a hard reboot.

Ive checked Windows Event Viewer and there is no warnings or critical errors in the Application or System areas.

PC specs below:

Motherboard:
Gigabyte B850 Eagle Ice Wi-Fi 7 - DDR5

CPU:
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 5.0 GHz | 8 Cores 16 Threads

GPU:
XFX Swift Radeon RX 9070 XT Triple Fan Gaming Edition - White

RAM:
64GB Kingston Fury Beast RGB 6000MHz (2x32GB) CL36 - White

OS: Windows 11 64 bit professional

I was getting some crashes about a month ago which I fixed by rolling back the AMD drivers to 25.9.1 or thereabouts but these hard freezes are only in the past few weeks. I have been fine for pretty much every season since launch.

There is nothing that seems to trigger it, it just happens at random. A few times during maps, a few times sitting in my hideout doing nothing.

I have downloaded Process Lasso (?) and that seems to have stopped the whole computer freezing, and the game just crashes to desktop instead. Small win, but not ideal.

I've disabled most of the AMD settings in Adrenaline to try avoid it interfering with the game, I've also removed POE2 from the "favourites games" section.

CPU usage when the game is running is quite low, same with ram, shader bar always seems maxed though - unsure if this is normal?

I'm really just looking for suggestions and help from people who have or are experiencing this issue, as it doesn't seem like it's a computer issue but more a client issue.

Shader bar being maxed all the time is not normal, those should be loading in a few seconds after they've been compiled for the first time already. And especially if your game is on a SSD with fast read/write speeds, shader bar being full means something is wrong with the game's shaders. This problem has been happening in both games for a lot of people, regardless of their PC specs.

Optimization is just non-existent because there is not enough time or people to develop both games. Hopefully they get 2 separate dev teams for them and actually make sure the games can even run lol

Even if they get more workers, they will very likely continue to not optimize both games around decade old and weak hardware.
A 9 year old entry level GPU with 4 GB VRAM and corresponding weak parts for the rest of the spec just isn’t the play in 2026 with overall higher baseline requirements.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.
