Trade: Jiquani's Potential Imperial Staff with +0 to Level of all Spell Skill Gems wrongly filtered

Bug Report ID: #339.319.353

Bug:
The stat filter: "+# to Level of all Spell Skill Gems" removes all "Jiquani's Potential Imperial Staff" that have rolled a 0 this stat. You only see +1 or -1 staffs.

This error occurs ingame and on the trade site. This problem may not be limited to Jiquani's Potential Imperial Staff and affect all items that can roll 0 on a stat.

Steps to reproduce:
Search for "Jiquani's Potential Imperial Staff" and add stat filter for "+# to Level of all Spell Skill Gems" with min of 0 search. If you order them in ascending order by the modifier (clicking on it twice), you will only see +1 Staffs.

Same if you filter with max of 0 and no min, you will only get -1 Staffs.

If you specify a range of min 0 and max 0 you get no results, even though I have such staffs listed on trade and can find them if I search my account.

Expected behavior:
The stat filter for "+# to Level of all Spell Skill Gems" shouldn't remove staffs that rolled 0 on this, when 0 is in the specified range.

This is consistant with other items that have modifiers that have 0 in their range of values that can roll.

Having 0 of a stat is considered the same as not having the stat, and using a stat filter searches only for items that have the stat.

You can use a NOT filter to remove only the rolls in the range you don't want to see, instead.
What is the point of your reply?

I mentioned "This problem may not be limited to Jiquani's Potential Imperial Staff and affect all items that can roll 0 on a stat."

It's obviously not an issue specific to this item, but to how the trade site works. I only used Jiquani's as an example because thats where I first noticed this.
The point of their reply was to inform you how to properly search for +0 because that is the way the trade site is coded and the trade site dev has explained it as such.

It is completely unintuitive and should be redesigned, I agree. But that is the system we have to work with and I'm not anticipating any changes soon.

I made a similar bug report related to quality searching, and you can see their reply to that. There were others related closer to asking what you were asking for with a range overlapping to zero, but unable to find those atm without more searching.. but the dev post here falls into the same scope of 0 = not 0, just specific to quality.

Sorry, let me try being more clear: not a bug

"Having 0 of a stat is considered the same as not having the stat, and using a stat filter searches only for items that have the stat."
Maybe this is a better phrasing for the situation: When an item has a modifier that rolls a 0, the modifier isn't granting that stat.

A max of 0 implies that the item has the stat with a value of 0 or less. It doesn't have the stat at all so it won't work that way.

Something that an item doesn't have, doesn't have a value of 0.
I still don't see the point of either of your replies.

I obviously know how to "properly search" the item. The report is about this behavior not being what you would expect. I understand that this works as designed, but the search does not return the items the filter asked for.

If they don't want to fix it, fair enough. But "properly" searching is just working around the wrong results.

To make it more obvious for you two:

If I ask you (not the trade site) for all Ventor's Gamble with Lightning Resistance between -10 and 10. You would include the ones that have 0 Lightning Resistance in the results.

The trade site doesn't do this, therefore it's unexpected behavior.
"
I understand that this works as designed

Much more of a Feedback and Suggestions post than a Bug Reports post, so.

It's fine to include in your feedback that you regard the status quo as unintuitive if you would like. That doesn't weaken feedback - if anything, it strengthens it.

But when people speak about whether behaviour is "unexpected" in the context of bug reports, they are talking about the developers' perspective. If something is working "as designed" then its behaviour is not "unexpected" - by definition.
Having spent thousands of euros on Path of Exile over the years, I will not be further supporting it financially until and unless GGG resumes offering Technical Support.
It is by design the trade site can't see hidden mod

The roll is zero, then the mod can only show up when pressing Alt in-game, but it can see by the trade site

same if you copy the item mod in plain text.
