Increase Incubator expected yield and decrease drop rate to compensate
|
Issue: The value density of Incubators is too low relative to the effort required to realize it.
Explanation: With a dedicated Legion farming strat, it's inevitable that players will have more Incubators than they can use themselves, no matter how diligent they are about applying them to their gear. Therefore, in trade leagues, the excess should make for a good trading good to sell to other players. However, due to Incubators' very low yield, this is not the case. With the exception of a few Incubator types, such as Ornate, these items simply don't provide enough value to be worth the extra hassle for a buyer. If each Diviner's Incubator ends up giving only one Stacked Deck, why would any player bother with buying the Incubators, applying them to their gear, and finally killing mobs for a few Stacked Decks, if they can very easily purchase the plentiful and ready-to-use Stacked Decks on the market? This results in most Incubators being essentially worthless, not because they provide no value on paper, but because the value they provide is simply too impractical to extract. Solution: Increase the yield of Incubators up to x5 depending on type, and decrease their drop rate to compensate. Rationale: With this change, a dedicated Legion farmer will no longer be inundated with Incubator drops which end up littering their Stash space. They will be able to extract much more value from each Incubator applied (which takes both diligence and time). The same would be true for any potential buyers, hopefully making Incubators into feasible trading goods. While I do believe the issues with Incubators as a reward type don't end here, this band-aid fix should help alleviate some of the problems until a more robust solution is implemented. +1
I think Incubators should drop the iLvl and scale based on player level. With this change you could put them in dedicated tab, too. |

ffs drop the damn ilvl - it makes no sense whatsoever to have it the way it is now
these can already be balanced by drop levels and drop rates. adding ilvls makes us simply need tons of stash tabs even if we do the most sensible thing - filter most of them out. they should stack, stack to 20 or 40 and ffs just get rid of ilvls on them if someone is positively focused on some form of tiering - white/yellow/red. depending on map color. no other 'tiering' is needed. world wont implode if incubators found in T11 and T16 are the same i enjoy legion encounters but unless i want to leave real money on the ground i HAVE to micromanage these buggers. 6 legions a map, with all the juice means you start picking them by stash tabs. selling them is also not pretty but thats mostly due to ilvls, the original sin of this mechanic it is just slightly, slightly less annoying than original nets |
