Mirage Deadeye Just Plain Bad

Is Mirage deadeye ascendancy as bad as I think? I thought I would automatically get a cool DPS producing Mirage. Then I searched for hours because it wasnt working at all to find out I had to drag another already equipped skill gem into the slot, thereby LOSING the ability to use that skill. I found a couple of other guys trying it that had the same issue so I think we are doing it right, but why do we lose one of the good skills we are using? Shouldn't the mirage mimic what we are doing, and using for skills? This seems like a huge waste of ascension points unless we are all doing it wrong.

But i definitely can place a skill in mirage slot and also have the exact same skill available to be used as usual.

Thanks for replying, I appreciate it. Two other players told me they have the same issue. I tried placing lightning arrow in Mirage and as soon as I dd I could no longer use it as an attack. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

You need to make a separate skill gem to place in the socket for the mirage, or make a new one to replace the one you moved to the mirage.
Either way, you need two of the same skill; one for you, one for the mirage.

Options - Game - Gemcutting Restriction. I think its still defaultly enabled, disable it and you can create "duplicate" skillgems.

OP, are you trying to use the same lightning arrow skill in both your mirage and yourself?

You need multiple copies of the skill.

Your mirage needs its own skills, you cant share skills.

So whatever skills you want your mirage to use, you put in its gem link)

my mirage definitely dooes a good amount of dps.
