I still can't understand the temple mechanic after 100+ hours this league, feels bad

In my humble opinion, this is the most obtuse, unintuitive and convoluted mechanic I've seen in any game, not just PoE.

I've watched youtube videos trying to explain it.. and still nothing. I don't even want to farm it efficiently or anything, just to reach Atziri. But I placed a wrong room in front of her chamber and now it's permanently blocked and I can't get to it no matter how. There doesn't seem to be any way to reset the board aside from making new characters.

I don't enjoy puzzle or deck building games, so maybe that's part of the reason why this seems so absurdly complicated.

At this point, i'm simply treating this as standard league and not bothering to engage with the mechanic. Please don't add league mechanics that are so completely outside the rpg genre that a pretty decent PoE player can't understand it even after watching a 27 minute tutorial.

Dude, u must see that the league mechanic is not a problem here.

There is nothing indicating it in-game that you could actually block Atziri with a room, since the obvious thought is that placing a room next to her connects that room. Majority of people have placed something "wrong" in front of Atziri, since the game doesn't tell you anything about how the rooms should be placed.

I shouldn't have to watch a xx minute YouTube tutorial to get to know how stuff works in the game (not just a Temple problem, but problem with POE2 in general).

I blocked myself too because the obvious thought when given special rooms is that they connect to other rooms. Unfortunately that logical inference was wrong so my character will never fight atziri. Pretty big L, oh and then we have unemployed NEET streamers ruining the economy.
Ban the exploiters and explain the mechanic next time GGG.

Can't you just connect another room to the room blocking your way? Now there's a connection and thus the room can be deleted

I don't get it. I defeated that boss in the square room probably 10 times, checked the thing in the room, the exclamation mark never goes away, I still only have 3 medallion slots.
