Gold in SSF

I understand gold is a crucial resource for improving trading in trading leagues, but I don't see a logical reason to force SSF players to deal with gold outside of item bargaining. I only have two mid-level items in my pocket, and every time I want to try something new, I have to spend at least 500k gold to reset my passive skill tree, which I think is a terrible experience.

Its not illogical. In just a few days you have 25 mill plus. There should be some cost to doing things so you have to grind for its. Its Grinding Gear Games afterall.

" I also understand the intention behind this action, but it feels unnecessary to punish people who are trying to create something new in such a complex game. I understand that the players of this game are the most ambitious community in the universe, but please show some understanding; after all, it's just a game. What I mean is, imagine the game master of a great D&D session constantly trying to punish you for every move you want to make. I could beat them all, but you know it's frustrating, so you walk out of the room. It's not like I'm trying to steal Jonathan's sweetroll in real life.
