Ascendence Trial Finished, but portal reset the quest in treasure room

Hi there! new player, in general I really like the game. The ascendence quest in Act II was pretty frustrating though. I finished the trial and was collecting loot in the final room, and portaled to town to identify all the stuff before putting it in the stash, but then couldn't portal back through my portal to finish the quest, travelling back to the trial waypoint and it looks like the quest was reset by my traveling back to town? There's no warning that portaling to town will reset the quest, it would be nice if there was some warning about that OR make the final room so you can portal to town and back.
