Fix your rules

You guys have chat channels in the game. Local / Global / Trade / Party / etc.

Your rules do not state that no trades can be done in global. Nowhere in the code of conduct does it say anything of the sort.

I had voices drop from a sim. People like to link unid voices in global and then id and link again. It's a gamble that entertains people.

I asked a SINGLE TIME if anyone wanted to buy a fresh voices and gamble in global, and I was immediately muted.

After some googling I found a staff post that said that any trading in global was considered spam. Ok staff, maybe you guys should learn what the word spam means. Maybe if you guys want to enforce a rule you should include it in your code of conduct instead of enforcing an invisible rule that players aren't aware of. Maybe you shouldn't delude yourself into thinking the word "SPAM" means posting something undesirable a single time.

I have zero problem following the rules. If trade is absolutely prohibited from global chat THEN SAY SO IN THE RULES.

For anyone who wants to argue with me go ahead and point out to me where it says that asking if anyone wants to buy something to gamble with in global is prohibited.

I'm irritated because I specifically checked the rules before I posted and nothing of the sort was there, and then immediately muted.

Please do not:

* Disrupt forum or chat use for others

What should the limit on "trading in global chat" be, such that people sending trade-related messages to the chat not be considered "disruptive"?
There's a separate chat for trading and you wonder why they dont want you spamming global chat with trade messages?

Personally, I find trade messages in global very disruptive to the overall flow of conversation so kudos to GGG for actually enforcing the rule

The point of the post is that they are enforcing a rule that literally doesn't exist. The chat was in no way "disruptive" or "spamming". The staffs own post that says "any trade chat is spam" makes no sense. If they want no trade chat in global JUST SAY IT IN PLAIN ENGLISH.

They clearly state what is allowed in global chat and what isn't. If the mere existence of a Trade chat isn't enough for you to know that you are only supposed to write trade messages in the Trade chat I don't know what to tell you.

Global chat's purpose is for general discussion so if you impose on others with your trade messages, you are indeed disrupting the chat. The code of conduct is clear in that and yes, that's plain English.

Ok go ahead and quote the rules of conduct where it says no trade chat is allowed. I'll wait.
The rules do not have to explicitly state every little quirky thing you can come up with. They are written in a broad way so people don't try and weasel their way out of situations by pointing at technicalities.

"I wasn't trading, I was offering a service and just asking for a tip for a job done well!" or some such.

The code of conduct is available here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1457463

Even if common sense didn't tell you that you shouldn't Trade in a Non-Trade chat, after the very first time you got muted which would last maybe 10-30 minutes, you would know and there'd be no further problem.

Why do you make it so hard? This is just common sense.

The rules do not have to explicitly state ... .

Cool , welcome to the thread

Why do you make it so hard?

I would ask the same thing for GGG. Why is that you can go through the effort of typing out the actual rules in a random forum post from years ago, but not put them in the official rules of conduct?

If you want a specific behavior from your player base, why not just ask them instead of going through the effort of enforcing an unwritten rule?

So if you started typing out guild announcements or other guild related stuff in global chat should they action it?

Like I am all for talking about how horrific GGGs moderation policies are but I think its common sense to see a list of chats you can have and then assume they dont want those intermingled with spam from something that belongs in another chat.

The real secret is to just turn global off though. It peaked when Chris responded to the Gravicius copy pasta anyway.
