I want to play Path of Exile, but in an offline way.
|
I am having problems with my internet service provider. Since Friday (12/12), I have had no internet, and I do not know if this will happen frequently. I love playing Path of Exile, and I would like to know if you could make an offline SSF version that does not interact with the online game, so there would be no players trying to exploit or interfere with the online experience.

One of the issues with that is their current monetisation strategy.
An offline client can be experimented with. While I don't mean to question your personal incentives, GGG would be very aware of how easily the client would be modified to allow for e.g. additional stash tabs and cosmetic MTX without any purchases being made. Also, if they have never before offered an authoritative client, the required workload to separately make a client that is not reliant upon a game server could be immense. There's also the fact that it would expose e.g. precise drop rates to datamining. While it's possible to take steps to mitigate that (e.g. having different drop rates when offline), that ultimately conspires to increase the workload necessitated by an offline client. GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.

" But if skins were disabled, most people would still play online anyway. As for stash tabs, it could be limited to one of each special tab, exclusively for offline SSF, with absolutely no interaction with the live game. Just imagine playing Path of Exile simply by plugging in a USB drive! Regarding drop rates, the community is already crazy enough to run samples of 2,000 maps or mechanics just to figure out how things work. |

" one big issue with offline mode is it makes it easier for people to try and break the game and find exploits. players could even find hidden vendor recipes that no one knows about. i ll be real. if by a stroke of luck i find out the recipe to create mirrors and it happens to be damn easy. i would be rolling in mirrors AND NOT SHARE THE INFO. even back when in harvest there was a bug where you could actually reroll life mods on UNIQUES. i kept quiet about it. i was happily using it till ggg fixed it. an offline mode would also have less way to circumvent item duping. this matters too because if people found ways, they would definitely try on the real servers. as long as theyre not greedy and being discreet, they COULD go under the radar. ironically many people are greedy. they get caught and things get patched.
