Fire Spell on Hit and Volcano

I cannot slot Volcano into Smith of Kitava's skill Fire Spell on Hit. It says fire spell in the description and Volcano is a fire spell. I know it has a channeling component, which would not work (although this also needs to be stated clearly), but the Volcano can be used without channeling it as well. so I expect to be able to socket it in the skill.

Yup, same. If it's intended then it's not explained anywhere.

Same. I rolled my bear as Smith of Kitava purely for this interaction only to find out it doesnt work on lvl 23. Either on Volcano it should state that it cannot be triggered, or the support shoult state that it cannot trigger channeled skills. Neither the tooltips for Channeling or Trigger states that they dont interact together so i am curious to where i am supposed to find this information in game... I am not leveling another character this league and im not sure i will be back for the next...

I assume the channeling is why then I can't slot Volcano into Cast on Elemental Ailment. Really sucks considering the Shaman STR/INT focus and me wanting to play primarily Mace slams to buff the volcano dmg without having to cast.... very sadge :(
