Unintended interaction with on death league transfer mechanic
|
I spoke to support about this earlier and we tried different methods and it didn't work.
So I got to know this fairly new process that on death HC SSF char gets auto migrated to SSF. This works seamless in POE2 in my experience but I think POE1 is more complex in terms of league and progression mechanics. Since on death on character migrate but some of the league mechanics progression only partially migrate causing inconsistent interactions. For example through ACTs some area become accessible, like Mine Encampment. On death moves the quest state as completed but Mine Encampment become inaccessible in SSF. Also maps get buggy with no sulphatic vein events resulting in Delve being no longer accessible. Recipes become inaccessible in crafting bench however the discovery of recipe on that character stay completed so no longer those recipe can be unlocked again. Can I request POE product team to consider/review these inter connected interactions around automatic migration of league? If intention for this was to allow same character to be playable in immediate next league then can these issues be fixed slowly in the future? Last bumped on Dec 9, 2025, 10:40:59 AM

" That isn't really new. Hardcore leagues were first introduced in December 2011 and characters have, on-death, been unceremoniously booted out of them ever since. A more recent tweak was that, on the 31st of October of this year, they started going to the non-Hardcore version of their current league - that is to say, you can use your existing character to play in the challenge league even after death, rather than ending up in the permanent Standard (or, in your case, SSF) league. But that detail isn't really material to the matter at hand - and none of what you have posted below are actually bugs. I'll try to clarify why for each to help you understand. " When one of your characters unlocks the Delve mechanic, it becomes available for all of your characters in that league - because it is implemented as a league-wide unlock. The game hasn't forgotten that you unlocked it. You unlocked it on Hardcore SSF Keepers, where you no longer are. Your future Hardcore SSF Keepers characters will have access. " Quests are per-character; not league-wide. Hence why you can create a new character in Hardcore SSF Keepers, kill Brutus, and be offered a reward for having done so in Lioneye's Watch. Your character can't repeat a quest it already did. " As per the above, this is not a bug. You can unlock those in SSF Keepers if you would like to, using a character created there. " Not a bug. They are unlocked league-wide in Hardcore SSF Keepers; your character can't repeat the action. " You're certainly welcome to post in Feedback and Suggestions so that the Community Managers see your feedback and make a note of it for later discussion by the Developers & Producers anytime you would like to. I would just note there tends to be a delay between feedback being posted and game updates which act on said feedback due to logistical issues. Feedback and Suggestions (Path of Exile 1) I'm not trying to tell you what to do - but as a general rule of thumb: If you only want to play on a single character during a challenge league (e.g. Keepers of The Flame), create it in a non-Hardcore version so that your sole character and any league-wide progression it is responsible for never diverges. If you instead decide that you only want to play on the Hardcore (or Hardcore SSF) version of a league, each of your future characters will inherit any league-wide progression you would expect them to, and the whole thing will seem rather seamless without you needing to think about it.
