New buffs to the flames seem neat, Whirling Assault combined with Staggering Palm and reworked shockwave support should go nicely hand in hand. A bit concerned about Hollow Palm nerfs, but Thunderfist unique gloves got enormous crit rate buff 5% -> 15% so might sacrifice a bit of ES on gear for more evasion. I guess I'll give some recommendations based on the buffs we got:
[First 4 Ascendency Points] [-] Into The Breach -> Lucid Dreaming = Choice of Power - With the buffs to the duration, remnant spawn & pickup range, and damage increase, it's highly recommended for all Chayula mains to pick up these nodes to have consistent chaos damage. In 0.3, you'd have anywhere between 1~5+ stacks with Choice of Power depending on your build. In 0.4, Chonk should be getting close to 10 stacks while mapping and near that while fighting bosses. [Last 4 Ascendency Points] [-] Chayula's Gift - Okay-ish node that falls off once you either spec into CI or have better gear with Chaos Resistance. I think players will be able to hold onto this along with either Inner Turmoil or Grasp of the Void (assuming they're using a Quarterstaff with +# Attack skills) [-] Inner Turmoil (Volatility) - Still a very clunky mechanic to use to gain as Chaos damage. Most of the players I've seen using Volatility aren't able to utilize the damage from it either due to it being clunky, players forgetting, or by the time you proc Volatility, the mobs/boss are already dead if not close to it. With the buff to Lucid Dreaming, it'll probably be viable to drop this node completely or just use it secondary to Purple Flames. [-] Grasp of the Void - Buffed to be a lot stronger. This skill divided a lot of players but should now be worth picking up in a lot more builds. There has been good demonstration of using it as a way to gain Life/Mana leech or using Poison/Bleed to make it do a lot of damage to bosses. Still very awkward when it doesn't get attacked but is useful when it works. [-] Sap Of Nightmares - With GGG not noticing that it's bugged to not work with Life leech, this is very much a Chaos Walker of the Wilds that costs 2 Ascendency points. Can still pick this up to help with Mana issues but can probably solve mana issues in other ways and pick something else. [Bad Ascendency Nodes] [-] Unravelling - This node isn't very good considering that the ailments can be random and can roll Ignite twice in a row when Shock/Freeze would be ideal. A lot of builds that were trying to use it were mostly using Original Sin which crippled their elemental ailment, requiring them to take this. Better to take any other ascendency node besides this and Darkness. [-] Darkness - You still lose spirit, which is essential for any Melee build. Nothing to say here other than it's bad and the buff it got doesn't help. |
